摘要： Method of forming thermal transfer dye images comprising exposing a recording element comprising at least one layer of an organic photochemical imaging composition comprising a heat-diffusible dye (precursor) monomer, said layer being permeable to said dye (precursor) monomer, to an image-wise distribution of actinic radiation to create a change in its permeability corresponding to said image-wise distribution of actinic radiation, wherein said change in permeability is brought about by the radiation-induced polymerization or crosslinking reaction of said organic photochemical imaging composition combined with a concurrent copolymerization or crosslinking reaction of said heat-diffusible dye (precursor) monomer, bringing said recording element in contact with an image-receiving element, overall heating at least one of said contacting elements to cause diffusion of the heat-diffusible dye (precursor) monomer from the areas having unchanged permeability and transfer to said image-receiving element, causing in the case of said dye precursor monomer reaction of said transferred dye precursor monomer with a reagent present in said recording element, in said image-receiving element, or in a fluid medium applied to said image-receiving element, to convert said transferred dye precursor monomer into a dye. The invention also provides a recording element for use according to this method.

摘要： Method of making aqueous dispersions of hydrophobic polymer particles loaded with at least one hydrophobic compound, comprising the consecutive steps of dissolving said at least one hydrophobic compound in a water-immiscible organic solvent medium, dispersing the solution obtained in water or in an aqueous medium to form a dispersed phase having an average droplet size lower than 5 .mu.m, mixing the resulting dispersion with a dispersion of hydrophobic polymer particles in water or in an aqueous medium, said hydrophobic polymer particles being swellable in said water-immiscible solvent medium and having an average particle diameter ranging from 0.02 to 5.0 .mu.m, stirring the mixture obtained to allow said hydrophobic compound to associate with said hydrophobic polymer particles, and removing said water-immiscible organic solvent medium by evaporation.

摘要： The present invention provides a dye diffusion transfer imaging process comprising transferring image-wise by diffusion an acid dye to an image-receiving layer incorporating a non-polymeric phosphonium mordanting agent and a copolymer latex comprising free weak acid groups as a stabilizer for the mordanting agent, wherein the image-wise transfer of said acid dye is performed in the presence of a heterocyclic compound corresponding to one of the following general formulae I, II, and III: ##STR1## wherein: Y represents the non-metallic atoms needed to complete a saturated or unsaturated 5- or 6-membered heterocyclic nucleus, which may carry a fused-on aromatic ring system, and M represents hydrogen, an alkali metal atom, a quaternary ammonium group, or a negative charge forming an inner salt with a quaternized nitrogen atom of the heterocyclic compound. The invention also provides an image receptor element for dye diffusion transfer imaging processes comprising a support and such image-receiving layer.

摘要： Method for the preparation of stable aqueous dispersions of finely divided solid spherical polymer beads having an average particle size between about 0.5 and about 5 .mu.m and having a glass transition temperature of at least 40.degree. C. by dissolving in an aqueous solvent mixture at least one .alpha.,.beta.-ethylenically unsaturated monomer capable of forming a polymer that is soluble in the monomer(s) present in said aqueous solvent mixture but which is insoluble in said aqueous solvent mixture, a free radical-forming polymerization initiator, and a graft-polymerizable polymer containing hydrophilic groups, heating the solution to a temperature from 50.degree. C. to the reflux temperature thereof with stirring so as to form said polymer beads. The polymer beads can be used in an antifriction surface layer, an antihalation surface layer, an antistatic surface layer, or in a protective surface layer of a photographic element or in a top layer of a drafting film containing a photosensitive layer.
