    • An overload release clutch to be mounted between rotary drive and driven members includes a recess formed on one member and a hole formed on the other member at a position axially corresponding to the recess, the recess being arcuate in the circumferential direction and extending in the axial direction. A transmission roller having a crowned peripheral surface, extending in the axial direction and having a tapered surface at least one end, is fitted in the hole so as to be rotatable on its axis and movable along the radial direction. The roller is normally urged by pressure means radially inward and engages with the recess for transmitting the rotational movement of the drive member to the driven member. When an overload torque is applied, the pressure means permits the roller to move radially outward to disengage from the recess.

    • A roll feed apparatus for intermittently and unidirectionally feeding a sheet material has a first roll fixedly carried by a first roll shaft on a first axis, and a second roll carried by a second roll shaft on a second axis. A turning shaft, rotatable by an operation lever, includes a first shaft portion on a third axis and second shaft portions on a fourth axis on both axial ends of the first shaft portion, rotatably supported by a housing through self-centering bearings. A pivotable member rotatably supports portions of the first roll shaft on both sides of the first roll. The pivotable member pivotally supported by the first shaft portion of the turning shaft moves the first roll towards and away from the second roll. The third axis extends in parallel with the first axis and is laterally spaced from the first roll. The fourth axis crosses the third axis at a predetermined small angle. The crossing point of third and fourth axes is positioned on or in the vicinity of a straight line which passes an axial mid-portion of the first roll and extends perpendicular to the first axis.

    • An indexing device comprises a rotatably driven input shaft; a globoidal cam having, for the purpose of outputting intermittently the rotation of the input shaft, a taper rib defining a cam face which has a disk-shaped end face gradually yielding to a helical face about the input shaft; an output shaft to which the rotation of the input shaft is transmitted so that the output shaft may rotate intermittently; an indexing disk provided on the output shaft and having supports protruding radially outwardly at intervals along the circumference of the indexing disk, the ridge of the taper rib fitting between the adjoining supports; cam followers each disposed at the end of the support on the indexing disk and brought into engagement with the taper rib so as to be intermittently driven along the cam face; and gaps provided between the ridge of the taper rib and the supports opposite this, the gap being filled up by the elastic deformation of the cam follower so that the ridge of the taper rib may come into contact with the support. Thus, even though an excessive load is applied to the input shaft, etc., the generation of permanent deformation such as an imprint can be prevented, which will result in improvements in rigidity and durability of the indexing device, therefore improvement in reliability of the indexing device for a machine tool to which the indexing device of the present invention is applied.

    • A planetary roller type power transmission device has a first rotary shaft and a second rotary shaft which are arranged coaxially, a sun roller connected to the first rotary shaft, a stationary outer ring disposed concentrically with the sun roller, and a plurality of planet rollers disposed in the annular space between the sun roller and the stationary outer ring, the planet rollers being carried by a carrier rotatable as a unit with the second rotary shaft. The power transmission device further has a pair of mutually opposing flange-like projections formed on the outer peripheral surface of the stationary outer ring so as to pass positions adjacent to respective axial ends of the area of contact between the planet rollers and the stationary outer ring, and a tightening means operable from the outside of the transmission device and adapted to urge the flange-like projections towards each other thereby causing elastic deformation of the stationary outer ring. The levels of contact pressure between the sun roller and the planet rollers and between the planet rollers and the stationary outer ring are controlled by adjustment of the amount of tightening by the tightening means.
