    • A rolling unit for a rolling mill for rolling or sizing metal pipes, bars or wires has at least three rolls arranged in a star arrangement. Each roll has a separate drive mechanism and bearings on both sides of the roll. The rolls are adjustable radially with the bearings. A higher load can be borne with smaller outer dimensions. Furthermore the number of individual parts of the rolling unit is reduced as well as manufacturing and assembly expenses for the rolling unit. For this purpose the bearings of the roll shafts are mounted in respective eccentric sleeves, whose rotational position is continuously changed by means of an adjusting device. A securing device is provided however to fix the rolls in one rotational position.

    • A rolling unit for a rolling mill for rolling or sizing metal pipes, bars or wires has at least three rolls arranged in a star arrangement. The improved rolling unit has smaller outside dimensions but can take a higher load. The number of individual rolling unit parts is also reduced as well as manufacturing and assembly expenses. For this purpose the bearings of the roll shafts are mounted in respective eccentric sleeves, whose rotational position may be adjusted manually and in a stepwise manner between several rotational positions.

    • A rolling stand includes at least one roller having a roller journal which is rotatably supported by an eccentric bushing which in turn is rotatably supported by a low-friction bearing unit. An adjusting mechanism exerts an adjusting force on the eccentric bushing for rotating the eccentric bushing with respect to the housing and maintaining the eccentric bushing in a desired position. In order to determine a rolling force in the rolling stand, the eccentric bushing is rotated to a desired position relative to the housing by the adjusting mechanism, and an effective adjusting force in the adjusting mechanism is measured when the eccentric bushing is held in the desired position. The rolling force can then be ascertained on the basis of the measured adjusting force.
