    • Disclosed herein are a liquid for a liquid lens and a liquid lens module. The liquid for a liquid lens comprises an electrolyte solution and an insulating solution wherein the electrolyte solution contains H2O, 1,2-propanediol and LiCl, and the insulating solution is a silicon (Si) oil and optionally contains 1,6-dibromohexane or bromobenzene as an organic additive. The liquid lens module comprises a transparent cover, a case for accommodating an electrolyte solution and an insulating solution, a pair of electrodes for supplying electricity to the electrolyte solution, and an insulating film for covering one of the electrodes in contact with the electrolyte solution wherein the electrolyte solution contains H2O, 1,2-propanediol and LiCl, and the insulating solution is a silicon (Si) oil. The electrolyte solution and the insulating solution used in the liquid for a liquid lens satisfy the requirements for liquid lenses. In addition, the liquid for a liquid lens ensures superior low- and high-temperature reliability. Therefore, the liquid for a liquid lens is suitable for commercialization.

    • Disclosed herein is an electrowetting system based on the electrowetting phenomenon. The electrowetting system comprises an electrolyte solution and optionally an insulating solution wherein the electrolyte solution includes a first salt having a molar mass of 100 or below and a solubility of 27 g or above in 100 g of water, a second salt (a chaotropic salt) containing an ion with a negative Jones-Dole coefficient (B), a third salt containing an ion with a Setschenow constant (ks) of 0.150 or above, and the salts are in the range of 10 to 30% by weight with respect to the total weight of the electrolyte solution. A mixture of the salts having different inherent characteristics is used as the electrolyte solution of the electrowetting system. Taking into consideration all factors, such as solubility, freezing point, changes in viscosity according to temperature variation and separation between the insulating solution and the electrolyte solution, the electrolyte solution satisfies reliability in terms of temperature variation.

    • A liquid zoom lens mounted on a portable terminal is provided. In the liquid zoom lens, a cylindrical body has upper and lower openings to which one pair of lenses is coupled. An auto-focus lens part includes a first insulating liquid layer, a first electrolyte layer, and a first lens. The first insulating layer and the first electrolyte layer are disposed to form an interface at a lower portion of the body. The first lens is disposed on the first electrolyte layer and has a periphery closely attached to a lower portion of an inner periphery of the body. An optical zoom lens part includes a second insulating liquid layer, a second electrolyte layer, and a second lens. The second insulating liquid layer and the second electrolyte layer are disposed to form an interface on the first lens. The second lens is fixed to be movable within the second insulating liquid layer, such that a periphery is closely attached to the inner periphery of the body. Accordingly, the auto-focus function and the optical zoom function can be simultaneously achieved through a single liquid lens whose curvature is varied by the difference of the inherent refractive index between the electrolyte and the insulating liquid.

    • The invention provides a color wheel for Micro-Device (MD) projection display. The color wheel of the invention includes a color filter with different colors divided on the circumference thereof, a driving motor rotating a rotor with the color filter assembled thereinto, and a filter adhesion layer fixing the color filter to the carrier by an adhesive applied on the overlapping region of the carrier and the color filter. The color wheel also includes a holder having a fixing part to maintain compressive stress offsetting tensile stress generated at the filter adhesion layer. The invention minimizes tensile stress at the adhesion part for fixing the color filter, increasing the adhesive force between the adherent and the adhesive, thereby allowing firm fixing of the color filter to the driving motor without using an adhesive.
