    • The cylinder block assembly (1a) of a swash plate type refrigerant compressor is formed with a suction passageway (17) in which a refrigerant gas containing a mist-like lubricant oil therein is sucked and passed therethrough, and a cylindrical separating chamber (22) is formed by an extension (21) from an inner wall of the suction passageway and has an opening directed toward an entering direction of a flow of the lubricant oil-containing refrigerant gas. The separating chamber (22) is provided with an bottom wall (22a) having a through-hole for an entrance of the oil, communicating between the separating chamber (22) and a swash plate chamber (4). The refrigerant gas containing the lubricant oil therein enters the cylindrical separating chamber (22) arranged in the suction passageway (17) and impringes upon an inner wall (22b) and the bottom wall (22a), whereby the flow direction thereof is changed, and flows out of the chamber through the opening into the suction passageway to thereby separate the lubricant oil from the refrigerant gas. The separated lubricant oil is supplied from the separating chamber (22) into the swash plate chamber (4), without overflowing from the chamber toward the suction passageway.

    • A piston for a compressor comprising a ring groove on the outer circumferential surface of the piston, and a discontinuous ring seal member with opposite split ends made of a plastic material and fitted in the ring groove. The ring member having an outer surface comprising a main sealing portion having an axially uniform shape and an outwardly circumferentially projecting flexible lip portion. Also, the inner surface of the ring member comprises an inner bearing portion able to come into contact with a first portion of a bottom surface of the ring groove such that the flexible lip portion of the outer surface is brought into contact with a cylinder wall of the cylinder bore and preflexed inwardly. An inner pressure receiving portion is formed adjacent to the inner bearing portion to receive pressure from the compression chamber, to further flex the flexible lip portion upon a compression stroke of the compressor and thereby allow the ring member to expand and the main sealing portion to come into contact with the cylinder wall of the cylinder bore.

    • A swash plate type compressor is provided with a front and rear cylinder blocks having a crank case connected to a suction port. The cylinder blocks include a plurality of cylinders, and are connected to a front and rear housing sections for covering the cylinders. Each housing section contains a discharge chamber. A drive shaft is rotatabley supported by the cylinder blocks. A swash plate is mounted on the drive shaft and is rotatably disposed within the crank case. Two-head pistons move within their respective cylinders in cooperation with the swash plate. The refrigerant is drawn into, and compressed in each cylinder. Thereafter, it is discharged into the external refrigerating circuit through the front and rear discharge chambers, and a final discharge port. A discharge passage includes a hollow primary passage which is provided within the drive shaft. The primary passage communicates with the front and rear discharge chambers. A groove is provided on an inner wall of the primary passage. As the drive shaft rotates, the groove separates the refrigerant from the lubricating oil mixed with the refrigerant. An oil passage is provided between the discharge chamber and the crank case. The separated oil flows from the discharge chamber to the crank case, through the oil passage, and is used again in lubricating the components of the compressor.
