    • Embodiments of a spinal implant system include a fixation element, a connector body, and a compression member. The fixation element has a bone engaging portion, a pivoting portion, and a hinge portion. The hinge portion permits pivotal motion of the pivoting portion relative to the bone engaging portion. Additionally, the connector body defines a channel configured for receipt of an elongate member and defines an elongate slot configured for receipt of the pivoting portion of the fixation element. The pivoting portion is positionable in any one of a plurality of positions along the elongate slot. The compression member is adapted to engage the pivoting portion of the fixation element and press against the connector body to lock the pivoting portion at a desired angular position relative to the bone engaging portion and lock the connector body to the fixation element at the desired position along the elongate slot.

    • A fastener assembly for engaging vertebral elements has a connecting body that includes a receptacle extending between a first opening and a second opening and a fastener with a head movably supported in the receptacle. The fastener includes a vertebral engaging portion extending distally through the second opening. The fastener assembly further includes a post that has an elongated body with a proximal portion extending proximally from the first opening of the connecting body, a distal engagement end in the receptacle, and an adjusting portion extending between the proximal portion and the engagement end. The adjusting portion is movably engaged to the connecting body to position the engagement end relative to the head of the fastener to substantially fix the head in the receptacle and resist movement of the fastener with respect to the post and the connecting body.

    • A connection system is provided that joins a revision fixation plate to a previously implanted skeletal fixation plate. In one form, the system allows the previously implanted plating system to be revised without disturbing the original implant components. In one aspect, the connection includes joining the revision fixation plate to a previously implanted fastener. In another aspect, the revision fixation plate is directly joined to a previously implanted fixation plate. In yet another aspect, the connection includes forming a dynamic relationship between the previously implanted plating system, the revision fixation plate, and the affected vertebrae. In one form, the dynamic relationship enables movement between the previously implanted plating system and the affected vertebrae and in another form, the dynamic relationship enables movement between the previously implanted plating system and the revision fixation plate.

    • A stabilizer for use with a trackable surgical instrument can include a first member, a second member and a retaining member. The first member can have a first annular body portion and a first pair of legs extending therefrom. The first annular body portion can include a plurality of locating slots for engaging a selectively positionable portion of a surgical instrument. The second member can have a second annular body portion and a second pair of legs extending therefrom. The second annular body can engage a drive device of the surgical instrument. The first pair of legs can be telescopically coupled with and adjustable relative to the second pair of legs such that the first member can be axially adjustable relative to the second member. The retaining member can cooperate with at least one leg to retain the first member adjustably coupled to the second member.
