    • The present invention relates to a water-dispersible binder composition which is suitable for the production of a stoving filler to be processed from the aqueous phase and which containsa) 65 to 95% by weight of a urethane-modified polyester resin containing carboxyl groups,b) 5 to 35% by weight of a crosslinker resin andc) 0 to 2% by weight of an emulsifier,wherein the percentages are based on the total weight of components a) to c), characterized in that component a) has an acid value of 15 to 36, a hydroxyl value of at least 40 and a molecular weight (M.sub.w) of 5,000 to 50,000 and has been obtained by reactinga1) 72 to 80% by weight of a polyester polyol having a hydroxyl value of 130 to 200 and an acid value of 1 to 5 anda2) 4 to 7% by weight of a 2,2-bis-(hydroxymethyl)-alkane carboxylic acid or a quantity corresponding to this quantity of acid of a tertiary amine salt of such an acid witha3) 15 to 24% by weight of at least one cycloaliphatic diisocyanate having a molecular weight of 166 to 294,wherein the percentages are based on the total weight of components a1) to a3).The present invention also relates to a process for the production of an aqueous stoving filler which is suitable for the production of chip resistant coatings and to the chip resistant coatings produced therefrom.

    • The present invention relates to a process for preparing aqueous binders for aqueous coating compositions by reacting a mixture of A) 9.9 to 85 wt. % of a hydroxy- and acid-functional poly(meth)acrylate andB) 14.9 to 90 wt. % of a hydroxy-functional, fatty acid-modified polyester with C) 0.1 to 20 wt. % of a diisocyanate having a molecular weight of 140 to 318, to form urethane groups and then dissolving or dispersing the reaction product in water with prior or simultaneous neutralization of at least a portion of the carboxyl groups present, wherein the sum of the percentages of A) to C) add up to 100. The present invention also relates to the aqueous binders obtained by this process and their use, optionally combined with other oxidatively drying lacquer resins, in air- and/or heat-drying, two-component coating compositions, preferably aqueous polyurethane coating compositions, or in combination with optionally blocked polyisocyanates and/or amino cross-linking agents in aqueous heat-curing coating compositions.

    • This invention relates to an aqueous binder composition containingA) an aqueous solution or dispersion of an organic polyol component which can be diluted with water and contains at least one polyester resin containing urethane, carboxylate and hydroxyl groups andB) a polyisocyanate component which has a viscosity of 50 to 10,000 mPa.s at 23.degree. C. and contains at least one organic polyisocyanate which is present as an emulsion in component A),wherein the NCO/OH equivalent ratio, based on the isocyanate groups of component B) and the hydroxyl groups of the polyol component present in A), is 0.5:1 to 5:1.The invention also relates to a process for the preparation of these coating compositions by emulsifying a polyisocyanate component having a viscosity of 50 to 10,000 mPa.s at 23.degree.     • Oxidatively cross-linkable, water dilutable binders suitable for lacquers, coating compositions and sealing compounds are modified co-polymers of olefinically unsaturated compounds, having a molecular weight of 6000 to 160,000 and having for each 100 grams of solids content, a total of from60 to 250 milliequivalents of chemically incorporated carboxyl groups, of which from 10 to 100% are neutralized thereby rendering the product dilutable in water andfrom 15 to 50% by weight of chemically incorporated moieties corresponding to the formula--O--RwhereinR represents an olefinically monounsaturated or polyunsaturated aliphatic hydrocarbon having a molecular weight above 166 and containing from 12 to 22 carbon atoms, are prepared by:(a) preparing a co-polymer having a molecular weight from 5000 to 80,000, determined by gel permeation chromatography, and having intramolecular carboxylic acid anhydride units corresponding to the formula ##STR1## and an anhydride equivalent weight of from 240 to 1960 by a radically initiated co-polymerization of olefinically unsaturated dicarboxylic acid anhydrides with other olefinically unsaturated monomers,(b) reacting at least 50% of the acid anhydride units present in the co-polymer from (a) with an unsaturated monohydric alcohol corresponding to the formulaR--OH with anhydride ring opening ester formation, and(c) converting the free carboxyl groups in the reaction product of (b) to an extent of 10 to 100% into carboxylate groups by neutralization of the carboxys with a base.
