    • Caprolactam and oligomers thereof are removed from nylon granules containing same in a process wherein(a) nylon granules are introduced at not less than 100.degree. C. at the top of a substantially upright treatment zone,(b) nylon granules are passed downward through the treatment zone while being heated to from 130.degree. to 210.degree. C.,(c) superheated steam is passed at from 130.degree. to 210.degree. C. upward through the treatment zone,(d) dry nylon granules are withdrawn at the bottom end of the treatment zone and steam containing caprolactam and oligomers thereof is withdrawn at the top of the treatment zone,(e) the caprolactam and oligomers thereof containing steam thus obtained is passed through a column giving an aqueous solution of caprolactam and oligomers thereof as bottom product and virtually caprolactam-free steam as overhead product.

    • The invention is directed to molding materials containingA) from 1 to 99% by weight of polyarylene ethers having repeating units I ##STR1## where t and q may each be an integer 0, 1, 2 or 3,T, Q and Z may each be a chemical bond or --O--, --S--, --SO.sub.2 --, S.dbd.O, C.dbd.O, --N.dbd.N--, R.sup.a C.dbd.CR.sup.b -- or --CR.sup.c R.sup.d --, with the proviso that at least one of the groups T, Q and Z is --SO.sub.2 -- or C.dbd.O,R.sup.a and R.sup.b,R.sup.c and R.sup.d, andAr and Ar.sup.1 are as defined in the specification,B) from 1 to 99% by weight of copolyamides containingb.sub.1) from 30 to 44 mol % of units which are derived from terephthalic acid,b.sub.2) from 6 to 20 mol % of units which are derived from isophthalic acid,b.sub.3) from 43 to 49.5 mol % of units which are derived from hexamethylenediamine,b.sub.4) from 0.5 to 7 mol % of units which are derived from aliphatic cyclic diamines of 6 to 30 carbon atoms andb.sub.5) from 0 to 4 mol % of further polyamide-forming monomers which differ from b.sub.1) to b.sub.4),along with other optional additives.

    • Copolyamides which contain units of the formula --NH--(CH.sub.2).sub.4 --NH are prepared by a continuous process in whicha) an aqueous solution of from 5 to 80% by weight of a salt of 1,4-diaminobutane, and dicarboxylic acids and from 20 to 95% by weight of further polyamide-forming starting materials are heated to a temperature above the melting point of the copolyamide, with the addition of diamines and with vaporization of water, under superatmospheric pressure,b) the vapor phase and prepolymer are brought into intimate contact with one another,c) the prepolymer is separated from the vapor phase and the polymer is discharged after a total residence time of not more than 30 minutes, andd) diamines are separated off from the vapor phase and recycled to a).
