    • A golf bag includes a putter storage compartment which is separate from a main golf club storage compartment and is disposed in an elongated pocket which is normally provided on golf bags and is commonly referred to as a clothing pocket. A partition within the clothing pocket separates the putter storage compartment from the remaining storage area of the clothing pocket. A top fitting having an axial bore is provided in the top panel of the clothing pocket above the putter storage compartment to allow the putter shaft to be inserted and removed from the putter storage compartment. The lower end of the putter storage compartment has an opening formed therein and a baffle is provided which partially restricts that opening to keep the grip end of the putter shaft from falling through the opening. The baffle also serves as a drain for water which may enter the putter storage compartment through the open top thereof. In one embodiment, an elongated tube contains the putter shaft and extends from the top fitting to the bottom opening in the putter storage compartment.

    • A golf bag includes a container and a stand. The container has an elongated body which defines an interior space for receiving golf clubs, and a partition member disposed inside the body divides the interior space into a plurality of individual compartments. A throat member is attached to an upper end of the body, and a hinge connects a base member to a lower end of the body. The hinge permits pivoting movement of the body relative to the base member from an upright position to an inclined position. During this pivoting movement of the body, a lower edge on the body lower end moves toward an upper edge on the base member. When the body is in its upright position, a wedge-shaped gap is formed between the lower edge on the body lower end and the upper edge on the base member. The wedge-shaped gap is closed as the body moves from its upright position to its inclined position. A stand, which includes a pair of legs pivotally connected to the throat member, supports the body in its inclined position.

    • A pocket assembly is removably attached to a generally tubular body of a golf bag. The pocket assembly includes a receptacle with a pair of pockets for holding golf accessories. An upstanding rib is formed on the body, and spring clips are provided on the receptacle for gripping engagement with the rib to position the pocket assembly at a selected location on the body. When the pocket assembly is attached to the body, the receptacle straddles the rib and the pockets are disposed on opposite sides of the rib. The spring clips may be disengaged from the rib so that the pocket assembly may be removed from the body and relocated to another selected location on the body. Straps attached to the spring clips are wrapped around the body, and hook and loop fasteners are used to fasten the straps together.

    • A key generation system is implemented as follows. In an enrolment apparatus, a unique number for use with PIN operated machines or public key cryptography systems is generated by manipulation of fingerprint information of a subscriber. A filter is then generated which is a function both of the Fourier transform of the subscriber's fingerprint(s) and of the unique number. This filter is stored on a subscriber card. When the subscriber wishes to generate his key, he inputs his card to a card reader of an apparatus and places his finger(s) on a fingerprint input. The apparatus generates an optical Fourier transform from the fingerprint input. The Fourier transform signal is incident on to a spatial light modulator programmed with the filter information from the card. An inverse transform is generated from the filtered signal and this is used to regenerate the key that will be used as the PIN in a PIN operated device, or as the private key cryptography system.
