摘要： A process for viral inactivation of a solution containing a biologically active protein, wherein the process comprises the steps of 1) contacting the solution with an immobilized ligand under conditions which allow protein to bind to the ligand, 2) subjecting the bound protein to a viral inactivation method under conditions which would result in substantial denaturation of the protein if it were not bound to the ligand, and 3) recovering the protein by washing the immobilized protein under conditions which favor the release of the protein into the solution under conditions in which the recovered protein retains its biological activity.

摘要： A cargo-handling apparatus which includes a cargo platform for airplanes which is structurally configured to prevent swaying of the cargo platform during loading and unloading of cargo from an aircraft. A pair of braced channel members are provided, which in their operative position extend vertically downward from both sides of the cargo hold of the aircraft, with a cargo platform positioned therebetween. The channel members are braced against movement by a pair of jury struts which extend between each channel member and the body of the aircraft, and a pair of cross braces extending between the channel members. The cargo platform moves up and down between and is guided by the channel members under the control of a power drive unit. The jury struts are disconnectable from the aircraft, and the combination of the jury struts, the braced channel members and the cargo platform is foldable such that the combination is stowable just inside the cargo hold door.

摘要： A scanning polygon assembly is provided which comprises a plurality of identical facet blocks arranged in abutting relationship on a platform. The platform has an annular lip against which two corners of each block abut so the facets form chords along the lip to form a polygon. The abutting relationship between the blocks is a tight fit but not a forced fit in order that the blocks are free enough to allow the corners to engage the lip (and thus assure such engagement) due to the centrifugal force exerted thereon during rotation of the polygon.

摘要： This invention relates to a right angle light emitting diode assembly with snap-in feature wherein an insulating body, generally in the shape of a rectangular parallelepiped, no larger than a finger nail, holds a light emitting diode in the insulating body at right angles to the surface of a printed wiring board, the insulating body being shaped such that robotic equipment can be used to insert the diode assembly cheaply and efficiently onto said board. The insulating body has front and back generally parallel surfaces, top and bottom generally parallel surfaces, and first and second generally parallel side surfaces, the respective surfaces having grooves and protuberances to allow the light emitting diode (LED) to be fixedly mounted in said body and the body to be inserted into a printed wiring board which can then be wave soldered without deleterious effects on the LED or supporting body. The bottom of the body has two oppositely faced snap-in proturbances which pass through the hole on a printed wiring board which deform inwardly slightly while passing through the hole and expand outwardly after extending out from beyond the hole to fixedly mount the diode assembly in the correct position on the board.

摘要： A rotatable "Y" scan mirror for a flat field scanning system is provided whereby the mirror is shifted in opposite directions transverse to its pivotable axis and is simultaneously rotated in one direction during a scanning cycle. A pair of cams is mounted on a common rotatable shaft for rotation therewith. One of the cams actuates a link connected to a pivot pin on which the mirror rotates. The other cam actuates an arm which is connected to the mirror to rotate the same. The cams are so designed to cause shifting of the mirror to maintain a constant length optical path to the medium being scanned and to cause rotation of the mirror in such a manner that the rate of scanning across the medium will be constant.
