摘要： An ink set is made up of at least three differently colored phase change inks, for example cyan, magenta and yellow, wherein at least one of the colored phase change inks is a photochromic ink that contains a photochromic material. Upon exposure to activating radiation such as ultraviolet light, the at least one photochromic ink changes to a color different from the color of the photochromic ink prior to exposure to the activating radiation.

摘要： A reimageable printing member such as for use in flexography, includes a layer having a multiplicity of holes, wherein the holes include therein a dimension change material and a printing material upon the dimension change material. Thus, the holes house vertically expandable units, the top portion of which is capable of protruding out of an opening of the hole at a top surface of the layer. Each of the holes may be individually addressed to provide a stimulus that initiates a change in dimension in the dimension change material. In this manner, selected ones of the units may be made to print a corresponding portion of an image on an image receiving substrate brought into contact with the printing member.

摘要： A reimageable printing member such as a printing plate for use in flexography, includes a layer having a multiplicity of channels therein. The layer has an open side to which the multiplicity of channels are open. The reimageable printing member further includes a filed generator such as an electrode or a magnetic field generator associated with the multiplicity of channels and generating an electric and/or magnetic field. The multiplicity of channels are individually addressable, thereby permitting the field to be applied to selected ones of the multiplicity of channels so that the marking material within such selected channels can be manipulated to move out of the channel and onto an image receiving substrate brought into contact with the open side of the layer, thereby forming an image on the substrate.

摘要： A cholesteric display including a cholesteric liquid crystal, and a dipolar dopant having limited miscibility in the cholesteric liquid crystal is provided. In accordance with another aspect, a process is provided for forming a cholesteric liquid crystal composition by dissolving a dipolar dopant having limited solubility into a cholesteric liquid crystal. The liquid crystal composition can be utilized to produce a cholesteric display. The liquid crystal domains in the liquid crystal composition rotate away from a planar state in the presence of an applied electric field and the degree of rotation is a function of the applied electric field strength. The reflected color is then a function of the applied electric field.
