    • A gas cooktop that is provided with a plurality of integral burners such that the cooktop may be hinged adjacent its rear edge to an underlying support housing so that the cooktop may be raised in the front for cleaning and servicing therebeneath. Each integral burner has a burner opening in the cooktop and an annular pan sealed about its inner and outer peripheries to the underside of the cooktop to form a burner manifold. Downwardly inclined radial gas ports are formed in the manifold to create a flame pattern within the burner opening. A separate source of secondary air is furnished beneath each burner and the air comes from all sides to flow through the burner opening by using a partitioned cover plate beneath the cooktop. A utensil-supporting grid is centered over each burner and it has a central annular flame spreader and an outer flame diverter to keep the cooktop from being overheated in the area surrounding each burner.

    • A heated cooktop formed of four individual glass-ceramic plates supported in a plane across the open top of a mounting box. This box is adapted to be suspended in an opening formed in a kitchen counter to provide a flush, cooking surface, there being multiple remote control switches adapted to be mounted on the kitchen wall or on the front of the cabinet which supports the counter. Each plate is furnished with a metal-sheathed resistance heating element bearing against the underside thereof. A high emissivity, ceramic coating is interposed between the metal sheath and the underside of the glass-ceramic plate. A lower layer of thermal insulation supports the heating element up against the plate. Narrow trim strips overlie the peripheral edge of each plate to fasten the plates down. Resilient pads are located adjacent each corner of each plate to help support the plates. Certain of the trim strips are removable so that the cooktop is topserviceable.

    • A heat exchanger for use in the flue gas exhaust system of a self-cleaning gas cooking oven in the form of a large squarecornered corrugated panel that is collapsed from the sides in the plane of the panel to create two intermeshed series of triangular shaped pipes where one series of alternate pipes carry hot flue gases while the opposite series of alternate pipes carry inlet air for transferring some of the heat of the flue gases to the ambient air. The front face of the heat exchanger that is turned toward the oven operates hot, while the back face of the heat exchanger operates relatively cool to reduce heat losses to the outside. Sealing means close both the top and bottom ends of the pipes. Inlet and outlet openings are formed in the front and back faces of the unit near the top and bottom.

    • A single cavity gas cooking oven with a combined baking and broiling gas burner mounted adjacent the top wall of the oven liner. The burner has a top baking zone and a bottom broiling zone and an adjustable valve for supplying gas either to the top zone or the bottom zone. Air channels are formed above the oven liner, down the back of the oven liner as well as beneath the oven liner. A fan in the air channels draws air in the top front and discharges it out the bottom front of the oven. An air inlet opening is formed in the top wall of the oven liner to communicate with the top air channel and supply a flow of secondary air over the burner. An oven exhaust vent is formed adjacent the bottom wall of the oven liner. A duct connects with the exhaust vent and extends across the floor of the oven liner, up the back wall and through the top wall to discharge the oven gases into the top air channel due to a venturi effect where they mix and are eventually discharged from the oven.
