    • Apparatus for winding a web section without using a core, the web section including a plurality of transversely extending perforation lines and wherein a torn web section is removed from a continuously supplied web. The apparatus includes two winding stations that are diametrically opposed on opposite sides of rotatable, circular carrying discs. Each of the winding stations includes a pair of opposed winding heads, and the winding heads each includes a pair of winding pins that extend in the direction of the winding aixs. The pins are rotatably mounted for rotation as a pair about the winding axis and are connected to a rotary drive. The winding pins are also extendable to a winding position and are retractable to a non-winding position. When in the winding position the pins extend outwardly from the winding head and are spaced from each other a distance sufficient to receive a web therebetween, and upon rotation of the winding heads the web is wound into a roll without the need for a core.

    • An apparatus is disclosed which serves to move a carriage in one direction over a predetermined distance at a substantially uniform velocity and to return the carriage at a varying velocity so that a film web delivered at a constant velocity is intermittently advanced relative to a welding device fixed to a frame. The apparatus comprises a lever, which is adapted to be pivotally oscillated by a drive and which by virtue of a first guide provided on the lever and a slider or roller cooperating with the guide imparts a motion to the carriage. The carriage is movable on track rods in a plane which is parallel to the plane in which the lever is pivotally movable. In order to provide an apparatus which is compact and space-saving, the lever is driven by a crank, which revolves in a plane parallel to the plane in which the lever is pivotally movable. The crank is carried by a driven crankshaft and carries a crankpin, which carries a slider or a roller, which is movable in a second guide provided on the lever, which second guide is provided on the lever, which second guide is disposed on a side of the lever opposite the side in which the first guide is provided.

    • A system and method for aligning two webs which are pulled off respective supply rolls, at least one of which is elastic in nature, the two webs being joined into a multilayered web. The system includes a first deflecting roller for depositing the elastic web on the second web, and second and third deflecting rollers located between the elastic web supply roll and the first deflecting roller. A traversing roller is located between the second and third deflecting rollers so as to form a loop therewith, a position of the traversing roller being adjustable relative to the second and third deflecting rollers for changing the tension on the elastic web. An alignment between marks on the elastic web and markings on the second web is monitored and, when there is a misalignment, an actuating drive coupled to the traversing roller adjusts the position of the traversing roller in order to change the tension on the elastic web and thereby align the marks and the markings as the webs are joined.
