    • The excavator for mining minerals, particularly for continuous strip mining of minerals, comprises a track drive, a digging unit with at least one digging roller and a connected conveyor for raw ore formed in the mining operation. The digging roller has a roller core and at least one helical digging and delivery flight. A delivery mechanism is mounted between the conveyor and the digging roller. The delivery mechanism comprises a breaking wedge and a delivery frame with a delivery opening connected to the breaking wedge. The breaking wedge extends from the underside of the delivery frame to the ground, and of course with a breaking surface thereon substantially tangent to the helical digging and delivery flight.     • A conveyor for transporting bulk material mainly underground along a closed path traversing at least one loading or unloading zone has a mainly one-level track on the path.     • An installation for protecting ground water underneath a dump has at least one tunnel driven longitudinally through the ground underneath the dump and an array of casing pipes passing through the ground, each having a lower end opening into the tunnel, and each formed with a multiplicity of throughgoing holes. These casing pipes are longitudinally spaced to receive liquid from their surroundings and conduct it to the tunnel. Respective inner tubes spacedly received in the casing pipes are provided to service the respective casings and their holes. These casings are installed using standard oil-drilling equipment and techniques. Once the tunnel has been driven the bores are slant drilled to it and standard perforated well casings are installed in these slant-drilled bores.

    • A tunneling machine according to the invention has a mobile and automotive base movable on the ground horizontally and longitudinally toward a face to be cut away, a turntable on the base defining an upright pivot axis and having a main support pivotal about the axis on the base, an arm having an inner end pivotal about a horizontal axis on the main support and having an outer end, and a cutter on the outer end of the arm. Actuators connected between the cutter, arm, support, conveyor, and base move the cutter over the face to cut rock therefrom and convey the cut rock back away from the face. A drilling apparatus including a drilling unit for making a hole extending along a bore axis and another unit for setting a rockbolt in the hole thus drilled is carried on the arm and engageable with the ceiling immediately adjacent the face. The cutter is engageable with the floor to support the arm thereon while the drilling apparatus is boring in the ceiling.
