    • A motion picture camera has a rotary shutter driven by a DC motor which is supplied from a battery. The camera also has an arrangement for making light markings for identification purposes on the film in the camera. This arrangement includes a light-emitting diode and a capacitor which is charged by the battery and discharges across the diode. The electrical circuitry is such that the capacitor is connected to the battery only when the motor is disconnected therefrom; inversely, when the motor is to be connected to the battery in order to operate the shutter (and also to advance the film), the capacitor is first disconnected from the battery before the motor is connected to it and then discharges across the diode. The circuit also suppresses afterglowing of the diode.

    • An exposure control for still cameras wherein a first portion of a diaphragm shutter is movable from cocked position to one of several second positions for effecting admission of scene light to an unexposed film frame, and a second portion of the shutter is movable from a first to a second position subsequent to movement of first shutter portion from the cocked position to terminate the exposure. The aperture size and the exposure time can be varied within a first range of light intensities which is monitored by a first photoresistor. The exposure time, at a selected aperture size, can be varied within a second range of light intensities which is monitored by a second photoresistor. The second range is contiguous to and merges gradually into the first range. The characteristic of the second photoresistor within the second range of light intensities can be changed by a wedge-like filter which is mounted in front of the second photoresistor and whose position can be changed by a pivotable or rotary selector of f/stops. The selector, or the first portion of the shutter, can actuate a switchover device which connects the first photoresistor in parallel with a first fixed resistor when the selector selects a first f/stop, and which connects the first photoresistor in parallel with a second resistor when the selector selects a different f/stop. The characteristic of the second photoresistor within the second range of light intensities can be varied by the filter in such a way that a curve which is indicative of variations of resistance of the second photoresistor within the second range of light intensities in a first position of the selector is substantially parallel to a curve which is indicative of variations of resistance of the second photoresistor within the second range of light intensities in a different position of the selector.

    • An analog signal whose value is proportional to scene-light intensity is converted into a multi-bit digital signal of corresponding value. A train of clock pulses is generated, having a repetition frequency greater than the reciprocal of the shortest exposure duration to be establishable by the control system. The digital light-intensity signal is continually totalized during the course of an exposure by a clocked totalizer which operates in synchronism with the train of clock pulses and produces during the course of the exposure a multi-bit digital totalized-light signal. A comparator has a first input at which it receives the totalized-light signal and a second input at which it receives a digital total-required-light signal. The latter signal is furnished by an addressable storage which stores a plurality of total-required-light signals of different respective values, corresponding to different exposure programs. A selector operated by the photographer or automatically addresses the addressable memory, causing the latter to furnish to the comparator the total-required-light signal appropriate for the exposure program involved.

    • A bag for containing liquid products, for example, is made of a heat-weldable sheet material. The sheet material may suitably be a compound sheet material which provides a rear face, a front face and an insert bottom. Disposed at an upper portion of the front or rear face is a threaded closure comprising a screw-threaded pipe socket and a screw cap. The pipe socket penetrates one face of the bag and is bonded to the interior surface of the bag with the aid of a welding flange having a larger diameter. The welding flange has a chamfered outer rim cooperating with the sheet material to form a V-shaped circumferential groove which is at least partially filled with the molten plastic material of the sheet during the welding operation. The threaded closure permits the bag to be repeatedly opened and closed for piecemeal dispensing its contents.
