摘要： A printing machine in which magnetically permeable marking particles develop a latent image recorded on a photoconductive member. A read head is positioned on the opposite of the photoconductive member to detect magnetic field intensity effects produced by the leading edge and the trailing edge of the marking particles on the characters recorded. The detected signals are used to control the magnetic quality of the developed image.

摘要： A fraud prevention system for magnetic ink character recognition includes providing a colored, highly reflective media and magnetic media over a non-magnetic toned image which can be an on-line or off-line component of an imaging apparatus. Colored media and magnetic ink are applied to selected characters from a thin film that includes a layer of colored media and a layer of magnetic media by utilizing a heater member to promote release of the colored and magnetic media to the previously toned characters.

摘要： In a xerographic development unit, particularly a unit for applying single-component magnetic toner such as used in MICR printing, the end of a donor roll which applies toner to the surface of a charge receptor is provided with a magnetic seal. The magnetic seal extends around at least a portion of the circumference of the roll, and defines a set of alternating magnetic poles arranged in bands which alternate along the length of the roll. The magnetic seal forms a uniform gap relative to the surface of the roll, the gap being sufficiently large to allow a turnover of toner particles therethrough. The design minimizes mechanical stresses on the toner, which in turn avoids the generation of frictional heat in the toner. A member defining magnetic poles can also be used as a shim for mounting a charge/metering blade within the development unit.

摘要： A magnetic character recognition (MICR) encoding device has a treatment station that applies a chemical treatment to the blank region as the sheets pass along the sheet path that compensates for a fuser release agent that a marking station uses. If blank region was not treated, the fuser release agent might detrimentally affect the printing of the additional magnetic ink markings. In order to properly align the blank region with the treatment station, the embodiments herein include at least one read head that is positioned before the treatment station along the sheet path. A controller analyzes the signals from the read head to determine whether the magnetic ink markings are aligned with the treatment station.
