    • A protection circuit board, a secondary battery with the protection circuit board, and a battery pack comprising the secondary battery.A PTC device which is a secondary protection device is provided on the protection circuit board, and is installed in electrical connection with an electrode terminal of a bare cell of the secondary battery. According to a structural configuration where the PTC device is electrically connected to the bare cell while being installed on the protection circuit board, the PTC device sensitively responds to temperature changes of the bare cell to thereby cut off a flow of electric current. Due to such a structural configuration of the PTC device, formation of an electrode lead is excluded for electrical connection with the bare cell on the protection circuit board. Consequently, a pattern-forming area which is designed on the protection circuit board increases.

    • A protection module capable of being utilized by a secondary battery regardless of the external mounting structure of the secondary battery for mounting the secondary battery to an external device. Accordingly, it is unnecessary to separately manufacture a protective circuit module according to the external mounting structure of the battery. The secondary battery includes: a plurality of bare cells each of which includes a can, an electrode assembly, and a cap assembly; a first protective circuit module located on the upper surface of the bare cells that is formed by the cap assemblies; and a secondary protective circuit module located on a side surface of the bare cells that is formed by curved surfaces of the cans. The first protective circuit module and the second protective circuit module are electrically connected to each other.

    • A secondary battery includes grooves formed in a cap plate into which conducting support members are disposed allowing for the exact connection of a protection circuit board to a predetermined position of the battery. The secondary battery includes: an electrode assembly; a can to house the electrode assembly; a cap assembly; a protection circuit board electrically coupled to an electrode terminal of the cap assembly; and a conducting support member connected to a groove formed in the cap plate and soldered to the protection circuit board. The protection circuit board is electrically and mechanically connected to the groove formed in the cap plate, thereby allowing the protection circuit board to be exactly connected to a predetermined position of the cap plate.

    • Disclosed is a lithium polymer battery, which includes: an electrode assembly; an outer case receiving the electrode assembly, where an electrode tab of the electrode assembly is withdrawn out of the outer case; a protection circuit module provided at one side of the outer case, where an inner connection terminal of the protection circuit module is connected to the electrode tab of the electrode assembly and provided in parallel to the withdrawn direction of the electrode tab. The lithium polymer battery can improve reliability and safety of an electrical coupling state between a bare cell and a protection circuit module and assembling workability between the electrode tab and connection terminals by mechanically and electrically coupling them to each other without bending the electrode tab.

A welding strength is improved when the lead plate connecting the bare cell with the protection circuit board is installed, thereby prominently reducing defects in manufacturing packs and modules.
