    • A tuner includes an input terminal operable to receive a high-frequency signal including a first high-frequency signal and a second high-frequency signal. The second high-frequency signal has a level larger than that of the first signal. The tuner further includes a first filter having an input port coupled to the input terminal for allowing a signal having the first frequency to pass therethrough and for attenuating a signal having the second frequency, a high-frequency amplifier coupled to an output port of the first filter, a second filter having an input port coupled to an output of the high-frequency amplifier for allowing a signal having the first frequency to pass therethrough and for attenuating the signal having the second frequency, a local oscillator, and a mixer for mixing the output of the high-frequency amplifier with an output of the local oscillator. This tuner has a high receiving sensitivity even when the tuner receives a high-power interference signal near a receiving range thereof and in a weak electric field.

    • A high-frequency signal receiver includes a variable gain amplifier for amplifying a high frequency signal input thereto, a local oscillator, a mixer for mixing a signal output from the variable gain amplifier and a signal output from the local oscillator, a filter for receiving a signal output from the mixer, a gain controller for outputting a voltage according to the signal output from the mixer; and a weighting circuit for weighting and summing a control voltage and the signal output from the gain controller for controlling the gain of the variable gain amplifier. The high-frequency signal receiver hence creates a small amount of signal error even when the input signal includes a large interference signal adjacent to a desired signal.

    • Provided is a reception device that selectively receives an analog broadcast signal and a digital broadcast signal. The reception device includes: an oscillation unit operable to output an oscillator signal; a frequency conversion unit operable to output an IF (Intermediate Frequency) signal group based on the oscillator signal outputted from the oscillation unit and a reception signal; a filter unit connected to an output side of the frequency conversion unit; and a control unit operable to control a frequency of the oscillator signal outputted from the oscillation unit. The control unit controls: the frequency of the oscillator signal to be within a reception frequency band when receiving the digital broadcast signal; and the frequency of the oscillator signal to be outside the reception frequency band when receiving the analog broadcast signal. With this configuration, it is possible to improve reception quality when receiving an analog broadcast signal.

    • If receiving circuit is in a high-sensitivity mode, receiving circuit is switched to a low-sensitivity mode when the BER according to BER measurement circuit becomes more favorable than a release threshold.
