    • This invention relates to a color controlled light source comprising a plurality of colored light elements, and a plurality of (filtered) photo detectors, having different spectral characteristics covering all or most of the total spectrum of the light elements. The (filtered) photo detectors detect the light output of the light source, and generate corresponding detection signals. The light source further has a color control unit for generating driving signals to the light elements on the basis of the detection signals and a predetermined target color point of the light output of the light source, and a modulator for individual signature modulation of the driving signal to each one of said light elements. A corresponding demodulator is provided for demodulation of the detection signals and extraction, from each detection signal, of actual values of the light outputs of the light elements. The color control unit has means for determining the spectral output of each light element on basis of the actual values, means for determining an actual color point from said spectral outputs of all light elements, and means for comparing said target color point with said actual color point and, if there is a difference, adjusting said driving signals in order to minimize the difference.

    • A double-diaphragm pump is designed to be molded almost entirely out of plastic and is provided with totally externally-accessible and serviceable check valves which do not require any significant disassembly of the pump itself. The pump is also fitted with a diaphragm which is formed from a uniform thickness of material and which have convolutions which are equally disposed on either side of the angle of elevation of the unstressed diaphragm. The pump is designed for mounting on top of a barrel or drum and has a set of radiused feet so as to fit snugly against the rim in an inlet pipe which fits into a bung plug having an eccentric opening such that the opening grips the inlet pipe and the plug may be rotated so as to snugly position the pump against the rim of the drum. The air valve to the pump is provided with U-cup seals in the housing. The spool of the pump moves in such a fashion so that the transitional area between the open and closed positions contacts the open end of the U-cup rather than the closed end as is traditional.

    • A communications system is provided having SONET communications channels extending between first and second locations. The channels include pairs of forward and reverse channels for carrying traffic in normal operation between first and second locations and a protection channel for carrying traffic of one channel in the event of a fault. Each pair of forward and reverse channels is provided on a shelf at each location, the shelves having the same relative position at both locations and the protection channel is provided on a protection shelf. The protection channel includes, between the first and second locations, a forward optical link and a reverse optical link and at each of the first and second locations, a single protection loop, coupling the forward and reverse optical links, that forms the protection channel. The protection loop is used to provide, at each location, a local virtual protection loop for indicating the protection requirements and status of the respective location, and a remote virtual protection loop for indicating the protection requirements and status of the location remote from the respective location. The local protection loop is provided by inserting K1 and K2 bytes into E1 slots of STS-1 #25 and #2, respectively. The remote protection loop is provided by inserting K1 and K2 bytes into E1 slots of STS-1 #26 and #3, respectively.
