    • The secondary cover of a molded case electric power switch housing is removably secured in place to enclose cavities in a primary cover for auxiliary devices by quick release fasteners. These quick release fasteners have a shaft with self taping threads which engage mounting holes in the top face of the primary cover. In an unlatched position, the non-circular heads register with complimentary non-circular apertures in the secondary cover which passes down over the heads of the quick release fasteners and seats on the top face of the primary cover. The quick release fasteners are then rotated clockwise ¼ turn by a tool to a latched position to clamp down on the secondary cover. A pair of diametrically opposite arcuate recesses in the secondary cover at each non-circular aperture assure that the quick release fasteners can only be rotated clockwise to the latched position as side walls of these recesses form stops at the ¼ turn position.

    • A circuit interrupter including a housing, separable main contacts within the housing, and an operating mechanism within the housing and interconnected with the separable main contacts. A trip mechanism is disposed within the housing that includes a trip bar assembly rotatable about an axis and that, when rotated, generates a tripping operation causing the operating mechanism to open the contacts. The trip bar assembly includes a trip member translatable along the axis. The trip mechanism includes a tripping actuator movable along a predetermined path of travel as a function of electrical current. The tripping actuator contacts a contact area of the trip member at a predetermined location along the predetermined path of travel of the tripping actuator and causes the trip bar assembly to rotate and generate the tripping operation upon a predetermined current threshold. When the trip member is translated along the axis, the contact area is contacted by the tripping actuator at a different location along the predetermined path of travel of the tripping actuator whereby the predetermined current threshold is changed.

    • A load conductor for use with a circuit breaker includes a load terminal and a conductive tang engaged with one another. The load terminal is manufactured out of a first material having a first electrical conductivity, and the tang is manufactured out of a second material having a second electrical conductivity. The first electrical conductivity of the first material is such that the load terminal remains at a desirably high temperature during operation of the circuit breaker to avoid interference with the function of a bimetallic strip mounted on the load terminal. The tang extends across a bend formed in the load terminal to avoid the bend from becoming undesirably hot during operation of the circuit breaker. The tang also provides additional conductive cross-section and a higher conductivity surface to reduce the temperature of the load terminal in the vicinity of the clamped joint between the load terminal and the load.
