摘要： The present invention is a polyol mixture that is useful for preparing polyurethane and polyisocyanurate foams. The polyol mixture of the present invention includes: a polyol that is derived from butylene oxide; and a hydrocarbon blowing agent such as pentane or cyclopentane, for example. Use of butylene oxide polyols of the present invention allow inclusion of a sufficient amount of a hydrocarbon blowing agent to produce foams having low density, without incorporating a higher concentration of water into a polyurethane foam formulation.

摘要： A prepolymer or elastomer is the reaction product of reactants (a) at least one polyester polyol or fatty acid derived polyol which is the reaction product of at least one initiator and a mixture of fatty acids or derivatives of fatty acids comprising at least about 45 weight percent monounsaturated fatty acids or derivatives thereof, (b) optionally, at least one polyol which is different from the polyol of (a); and (c) at least one isocyanate compound (herein after isocyanate) having an average of at least about 1.8 isocyanate groups per molecule. A process comprises admixing reactants (a) at least one polyol composition comprising the fatty acid derived polyol which is the reaction product of at least one initiator and a mixture of fatty acids or derivatives of fatty acids comprising at least about any of 45 weight percent monounsaturated fatty acids or derivatives thereof; and (b) at least one isocyanate having an average functionality of at least about 1.8 under reaction conditions to form a reaction product which is an elastomer or prepolymer is formed therefrom. An article, coating or thermoplastic polyurethane comprises the elastomer is formed from the prepolymer of or using the process of the invention.

摘要： Insulated glass units are sealed with polyurethane made using a natural oil-based polyol (NOBP). In one embodiment the NOBP is made using a monol-rich monomer containing high levels of mono-hydroxy functional fatty acid methyl esters. Insulated glass sealants based on these compounds provide enhanced resistance to UV and oxidative degradation as compared to conventional products while still providing the required barrier and mechanical properties.

摘要： Methods of forming olyurethane foams that are the reaction product of at least one polyisocyanate and a polyol composition are provided. The polyol composition includes at least one natural oil based polyol and at least one poly(propylene oxide) polyol and is desirably free of non-natural oil based polyols made from alkylene oxide units, other than propylene oxide units. The natural oil based polyol is present in a quantity sufficient to increase the processing window for the foam relative to a foam made using the same process and the same components, absent the natural oil based polyol. As a result, the present foams can provide very open-cellular structures with the superior performance properties of a poly(propylene oxide) polyol-based foam.

摘要： A polyether NOP comprises at least two natural oil moieties separated by a molecular structure having at least about 19 ether groups or by a polyether molecular structure having an equivalent weight of at least about 480, said polyol referred to hereinafter as a polyether NOP. The polyether NOP is preferably prepared by a process comprising admixing at least one polyether initiator having an equivalent weight of at least about 480 or at least about 19 ether groups per active hydrogen group with at least one natural oil or derivative thereof under reaction conditions such that at least one polyether NOP is formed. The invention includes reaction products of the polyether NOP or combinations thereof, optionally and preferably in admixture with at least one other polyol which preferably includes at least one polyether polyol and at least one monomer reactive therewith, preferably at least one polyisocyanate to form a polyurethane, preferably in the form of a foam, especially a high resilience foam. The invention includes articles comprising at least one polyether NOP, at least one polymer thereof, or at least one foam thereof.
