    • A tilt-latch structure or assembly (10) is used in a window assembly (11). The window assembly (11) has a sash window (12) slidable within a master frame (14) between a pair of guide rails (16), each guide rail (16) forming a shoe channel (17). A block and tackle balance assembly (70) is mounted in the shoe channel (17). The block and tackle balance assembly (70) includes a retainer (41) affixed thereto. The retainer (41) includes a projection (102). A tilt-latch (40) having a housing (42) is supported by the sash window (12) and includes an outward end opening (53). The tilt-latch (40) also includes a latch bolt (46) slidably retained within the housing (42) and having a distal end (60). The latch bolt (46) is slidable between an extended position and a retracted position. The distal end (60) has an aperture (62). When the sash window (12) is in a closed position, the aperture (62) of the latch bolt (46) receives the projection (102) of the retainer (41).

    • A sash lock (10) is provided for a sash window assembly (12). The sash window assembly includes an upper sash window (14) and a lower sash window (16). Each of the sash windows (14, 16) are mounted within opposed guide rails (20) on a master frame (22) wherein at least one of the sash windows is slidable within the frame (20) relative to the other sash window. The sash window assembly (12) further includes a keeper (26) for mounting on a rail of one of the sash windows. The keeper (26) includes a keeper surface (26a). The sash lock (10) includes a locking assembly (28) for mounting on an adjacent rail of the other of the sash windows. The locking assembly (28) includes a housing (30) having an aperture (32), an actuator arm (34) having a shaft (38) disposed along a rotational axis and within the aperture (32) of the housing (30), and a cam (36) having a cam surface (36a) for engaging the keeper surface (26a) of the keeper (26). The cam (36) also includes an engagement member (40, 52) to engage the shaft (38) of the actuator arm (34). The housing (30) of the locking assembly (28) includes two alignment tabs (33) that are each adapted to engage one of two alignment surfaces (26d) of the keeper (26).

    • Formulations for controlled, prolonged release of GM-CSF have been developed. These are based on solid microparticles formed of the combination of biodegradable, synthetic polymers such as poly(lactic acid) (PLA), poly(glycolic acid) (PGA), and copolymers thereof with excipients and drug loadings that yield zero order or first order release, or multiphasic release over a period of approximately three to twenty one days, preferably one week, when administered by injection. In the preferred embodiment, the microparticles are microspheres having diameters in the range of 10 to 60 microns, formed of a blend of PLGA having different molecular weights, most preferably 6,000, 30,000 and 41,000. Other embodiments hare been developed to alter the release kinetics or the manner in which the drug is distributed in vivo. For example, in some cases a polymer is selected which elicits a mild inflammatory reaction, for example, PLGA and polyanhydrides can act as chemoattractant, either due to the polymer itself or minor contaminants in the polymer, or polymers which are bioadhesive are used for transmucosal or oral delivery. In another embodiment, the GM-CSF is administered in a hydrogel which can be injected subcutaneous or at a specific site for controlled release. The microparticles or hydrogel are administered to the patient in an amount effect to stimulate proliferation of hematopoietic cells, especially white cells.

    • An integrated tilt/sash lock assembly for a sash window is disclosed. The sash window assembly has an upper sash window and a lower sash window slideable within a master frame, the integrated assembly has a keeper adapted to be connected to the upper sash window. A rotor assembly is adapted to be supported by the lower sash window, the rotor assembly having a rotor connected to a spool. A latch bolt is adapted to be supported by the lower sash window and is adapted to engage the master frame. A connector has a first end connected to the spool and a second end connected to the latch bolt. An actuator is connected to the rotor assembly. The actuator has a locked position wherein the rotor engages the keeper. The actuator is moveable to an unlocked position wherein the rotor assembly is disengaged from the keeper, and is further moveable to a tiltable position wherein the connector retracts the latch bolt from the master frame.
