    • An oscillator may include a crystal resonator, an inverter coupled in parallel with the crystal resonator, a first switched capacitor coupled to a first terminal of the crystal resonator, a second switched capacitor coupled to a second terminal of the crystal resonator, a control module configured to output a periodic dithering signal, the periodic dithering signal having a first pulse width based on a desired frequency of oscillation for the oscillator, and a delay module configured to communicate a first periodic enable signal to enable the first switched capacitor and a second periodic enable signal to enable the second switched capacitor. At least one of the first periodic enable signal and the second periodic enable signal may have a second pulse width greater than the first pulse width. The second periodic enable signal may be phase delayed relative to the first periodic enable signal by a non-zero delay.

    • Coupling structures for tubing are disclosed. Particularly, caps configured for receiving one or more tube segments therein, and securing the tube segments to a component having protrusions thereon including bores therethrough in a fluid-tight manner are disclosed. The caps may have bores longitudinally therethrough for receiving the tube segments, the bore walls being free from projections to fit tightly against the tube segments. A longitudinally distal annular recess of the cap may be threaded to be secured to a component. In another alternative, caps having separate apertures for receiving attachment elements to secure the cap and the component are disclosed. Caps configured with a bore for receiving a tube segment, and separate apertures for receiving attachment pins are additionally disclosed.

    • A class of solid surface composite materials has formula parameters that allow for the production of more abrasion resistant surfaces that can be either designed for fabrication of parts with carbide tipped tools, including saw blades and router bits, or to an even more abrasion resistant surface that will not be able to be machined with carbide tipped tools but will require diamond tipped tools or fabrication by other processes such as spraying, casting, injection molding, or press molding. A range of materials are added to a basic solid surface composite composition to yield the desired abrasion resistance. Depending on the amount and type of material added, the composite material can maintain the ability to fabricate parts with carbide tipped tools or it can be made so resistant so that parts cannot be fabricated with carbide tipped tools.

    • An offshore structure used for the production of or exploration for oil or gas or for some other purpose. The configuration enables the offshore structure to be installed and removed simply and economically. A central tower is wholly or partly supported by piles, foundations, and a template which is located on the sea bed and to which the central tower is attached. The dimensions of the central tower and the location and dimensions of the piles allow the offshore structure to have the desired response characteristics to permit a structurally sound and efficient arrangement. The central tower extends above the water level to support a module, deck, or building, generally referred to as the topsides. The central tower is placed on the template or can be driven into and fixed to the sea bed. The template can be used to drill wells before the installation of the central tower or piles. The arrangement of central tower, piles, template, and foundations permits ease of installation and subsequent removal as each operation can be undertaken with the structure in a secure condition and giving a stable configuration at each stage of the procedure. By using the piles to provide support for the central tower over an extended region of the lower length of the tower, it is possible to reduce the weight of the tower, albeit at the expense of increased pile weight. The reduced weight of the tower assists in easier installation of this component.

    • A data processing system is described which issues value documents e.g. tickets or information under the control of output instructions and is designed to prevent a person attempting fraud using an unauthorized program obtaining the value documents or information. The system includes a data processor controlling output units which can issue value documents or information and data storage. The data storage is divided into a secure store containing the output instructions arranged to make tampering difficult and a free storage into which an operator may load a program. Security logic is provided to check that an output instruction has originated in the secure store and to prevent operation of an output unit which receives output instructions from free storage. This makes it difficult for a person attempting fraud to produce value documents or information by loading a program into free storage.The secure storage is preferably a read only store programmed during manufacture. When secure and free storage share a common memory bus, the security logic monitors addresses used to fetch instructions.

The programmable voltage regulator may be configured to supply a first supply voltage to the inverter during a startup duration of the oscillator, and supply a second supply voltage to the inverter after the startup duration, wherein the second supply voltage is lesser than the first supply voltage.
