    • A regenerative fuel pump comprising a housing, a pump cover having a first flow channel formed therein, a pump body having a second flow channel formed therein whereby the first flow channel and the second flow channel define a pumping chamber, and an impeller mounted between the pump cover and pump body and including a plurality of vanes spaced circumferentially about the impeller and defining a plurality of vane grooves. The vanes are spaced un-evenly in a non-repeating pattern about the impeller. The first and second flow channels each include an inlet end, an outlet end, and a stripper area defined as the area between the inlet end and the outlet end extending from the inlet end away from the flow channel. Each of the stripper areas including a plurality of grooves formed therein adapted to dampen pressure pulsations within the pumping chamber.

    • A hydraulic control unit of a vehicular brake system includes a housing having a cavity. Drive means is received in the cavity of the housing. A fluid supply source is in fluid communication with the housing. A piston slidably is disposed in the housing. The piston includes a first end and a second end wherein the second end is in contact with the drive means so that the piston moves from a bottom-dead-center position to a top-dead-center position. Biasing means is in contact with the first end of the piston so that the piston moves from a top-dead-center position to the bottom-dead-center position. A first variable-volume chamber is defined by the piston and the housing whereby fluid is transferred from the first variable-volume chamber when the piston moves from the bottom-dead-center position. A constant-volume chamber is defined by the piston and the housing, whereby fluid is transferred from the fluid supply source to the first variable-volume chamber when the piston moves from the top-dead-center position to the bottom-dead-center position. A second variable volume chamber is defined by the piston and the housing, whereby fluid is transferred from the fluid supply source to the second variable-volume chamber when the piston moves from the bottom-dead-center position to the top-dead-center position.

    • A vehicle braking system including an antilock braking system or a traction assist braking system, or both, operatively coupled therewith, is disclosed. The system includes a pump assembly including a housing defining a main bore, an inlet bore, and an outlet bore. A reciprocatable piston is retained in the main bore. An inlet check valve is operable to pass fluid to the outlet bore when the piston reciprocates. An outlet check valve is inserted into the outlet bore and operates to pass fluid from the pump assembly when the piston reciprocates. A deformable flange extends sufficiently outward from a valve body of the outlet check valve. The flange secures the outlet check valve within the outlet bore when the flange is deformed into displacing engagement with the outlet bore. Further, a method of securing a valve in a bore of a pump assembly is disclosed.

    • A pump for a vehicle braking or traction control system integrated into a hydraulic control unit. The housing for the hydraulic control unit has at least one counterbore in which a cylindrical sleeve is disposed. The cylindrical sleeve has a counterbore which is open at one end and closed at the other. A piston is reciprocal in the counterbore by a motor driven cam. The piston, in conjunction with the closed end of the sleeve, forms a pumping chamber having an outlet port provided through the closed end of the sleeve. Low pressure brake fluid is received into the pumping chamber through an axial fluid passageway and a one-way check valve. A piston support land is provided on the internal surface of the cylindrical sleeve and a mating opposing land is provided on the external surface of the piston. The opposing land has a plurality of equally spaced annular grooves which entrap sufficient fluid to provide a uniform fluid film between the piston support and opposing lands.
