    • A drill ahead tool for drilling the initial portion of a subsea well allows an operator to drill ahead after running conductor pipe. The running tool locates in the wellhead housing secured to the upper end of the string of conductor pipe. The running tool has a mandrel that connects into the string of drill pipe. The mandrel locates in a sleeve. The sleeve locates in a body of the running tool. The body has dogs which engage a groove in the wellhead housing to secure the running tool to the wellhead housing while the conductor pipe is being run. The sleeve has a cam on its exterior for maintaining the dogs in the extended position. The drill pipe rotates the sleeve to advance the cam to allow the dogs to be retracted. The mandrel and sleeve have a J-slot and pin that allow the mandrel to be released from the sleeve to continue drilling ahead.

    • A helical antenna operable to be stowed on and deployed from a cubesat. The antenna includes two helical elements wound in opposite directions and defining an antenna column, where one of the helical elements is a conductive antenna element. The antenna also includes a plurality of circumferentially disposed vertical stiffeners extending along a length of the column and being coupled to the helical elements at each location where the vertical stiffeners and the helical elements cross. The helical elements and the vertical stiffeners are formed of a flexible material, such as a fiber glass, so that the antenna can be collapsed and stowed into a relatively small space. To position the antenna in the stowed configuration, the vertical stiffeners are folded on each other in a radial direction, and then the folded antenna is rolled in an axial direction from one end of the column to the other end.

The covering skin defines a substantially planar surface oriented substantially perpendicular to the center axis when the occulter is in the deployed configuration.

    • A deployable and retractable, telescoping style mast assembly and method employs a plurality of tubular sections of differing diameters. The tubular sections are nested one-in-another and are slidable with respect to each other, in a telescoping manner, to provide a deployable/retractable telescoping mast assembly. Retractable pins are provided to retractably extend from a collar coupled to at least one of the tube sections. In their extended state, the retractable pins are adapted to extend through apertures provided in an adjacent tube section. The retractable pins are provided with a head at one end thereof. The head of each pin is adapted to be engaged by a guide coupled to a third tube section upon the third tube section being in a collapsed state. Upon engagement with the pin head, the guide operates to pull the pin into a retracted state so as to retract the pin out of the pin receiving aperture.
