    • A data exchange system for use in a system that includes a plurality of redundant channels (12). A data exchange unit (30) is provided to process data, ensuring that consistent data are used by each of the channels. The data exchange unit votes the data so that an output is provided that is identical in non-faulty channels. The data exchange units communicate over an inter-channel net that includes a consistency port (160), which serves as a separate second fault containment region for each channel, enabling the data exchange system to be Byzantine resilient. If input data are provided by a single one of the redundant channels, the data are distributed to each of the data exchange units for all channels in the system using two rounds of communication. However, if nominally identical data are input to each of the data exchange units in the redundant channels, a single round of communication and a simple voting process are used to determine a consistent output for each channel. A multiplexer (112) is used to select the data source for distribution to the consistency ports of each of the data exchange units. A 16-bit voter circuit (130) in each data exchange unit votes on the data received by the data exchange unit from the consistency ports for all of the channels to determine the output that is used by each channel.

    • An aircraft communications and item tracking system is described. The system includes an RFID reader and a communications device located at fixed locations within the aircraft, a plurality of passive RFID tags operable for association with items within the aircraft, and a distributed antenna system comprising a plurality of antenna units and a wireless distribution system. The wireless distribution system is communicatively coupled to an aircraft communications network. The antenna units are communicatively coupled to the wireless distribution system and disbursed about the aircraft such that the RFID tags within the aircraft may be activated by signals output by at least one of the antenna units. The RFID reader and communications device are communicatively coupled to the wireless distribution system. The distributed antenna system is operable for transmission and reception of signals associated with the RFID reader and RFID tags. The distributed antenna system is further operable for transmission and reception of signals associated with the communications device.

    • A method and associated wireless monitor and data analysis system are provided. The method includes installing one or more of a plurality of wireless monitors at respective locations onboard a complex system on which a wireless system of interest is installed or planned for installation. The method may then include by the plurality of wireless monitors, emulating the wireless system of interest, and recording data related to performance of the wireless system of interest at one or more recorded times over a plurality of operating conditions of the complex system. The method may also include by the plurality of wireless monitors, collecting data including the respective locations of the wireless monitors correlated with respective recorded data and recorded times. In this regard, the collected data for the plurality of wireless monitors may be retrievable for analysis of the wireless system of interest based thereon.
