The navigation system is configured to use electromagnetic tracking data produced by electromagnetic tracking devices and 2D image data produced by a fluoroscope to intra-operatively register 2D images of a patient to a pre-operative 3D image of the patient. In some implementations, a surgeon may be able to perform an interventional or surgical procedure guided by the navigation system.

Certain embodiments include acquiring a first image of an object using an imager, obtaining first positional information for the imager with respect to the object, acquiring a second image of the object using the imager, obtaining second positional information for the imager with respect to the object, and creating a composed image using the first and second images. A spatial relationship between the images is maintained using the positional information. A composed image may be created by constructing a memory map of image data related to the object and inserting the images into the memory map based on the positional information, for example. A composed image may be created by combining the images based on the positional information, for example.

The method includes defining a plurality regions of an initial digital medical image, wherein the initial digital medical image is a combined initial digital medical image formed from the digital pasting of a plurality of individual initial digital medical images, and wherein the initial digital medical image is an exposure-normalized initial digital medical image; measuring an intensity for each of the plurality of regions of the initial digital medical image; deriving an intensity weighting function using the intensity measured for each of the plurality of regions of the initial digital medical image; and applying the intensity weighting function to the initial digital medical image to form a final digital medical image.

The method includes obtaining a first pre-acquired image of a patient taken at a first orientation, and obtaining a second pre-acquired image of the patient taken at a second orientation. The method also includes navigating a catheter toward a predetermined location after obtaining the first pre-acquired image and the second pre-acquired image. Navigating a catheter includes estimating the position of the catheter, and conveying the estimated position of the catheter by superimposing a graphical representation of the catheter onto the first pre-acquired image and the second pre-acquired image. The method for placing a stent also includes releasing the stent from the catheter after the catheter reaches the predetermined location. A corresponding system for placing a stent is also provided.

摘要： Systems and methods that utilize asymmetric geometry to acquire radiographic tomosynthesis images are described. Embodiments comprise tomosynthesis systems and methods for creating a reconstructed image of an object from a plurality of two-dimensional x-ray projection images. These systems comprise: an x-ray detector; and an x-ray source capable of emitting x-rays directed at the x-ray detector; wherein the tomosynthesis system utilizes asymmetric image acquisition geometry, where θ1≠θ0, during image acquisition, wherein θ1 is a sweep angle on one side of a center line of the x-ray detector, and θ0 is a sweep angle on an opposite side of the center line of the x-ray detector, and wherein the total sweep angle, θasym, is θasym=θ1+θ0. Reconstruction algorithms may be utilized to produce reconstructed images of the object from the plurality of two-dimensional x-ray projection images.

摘要： A technique is provided for analysis of image datasets acquired at different points in time. Computer aided algorithms are implemented for identification and classification of features of interest, and for comparison of such features which have evolved over time as represented by the image data. The algorithms may be specifically adapted to analyze temporal change images. Such algorithms may also be used to efficiently launch temporal change analysis only when particular features of interest are possibly present in the image data.
