    • A system and method for distributing digital copyright work having a copyright owner is described herein. The method comprises selecting, by a download customer, a digital copyright work for inquiry. A digital copyright work is associated with an advertising sponsor based on attributes at least partially selected by the advertising sponsor. Upon selection of said digital copyright work for download, the sponsoring advertiser is charged according to said attributes. The advertising sponsors is provided with the capability of full sponsorship or partial sponsoring. The association of digital copyright data with advertising sponsors is augmented by an analytical engine, which receives and aggregates data regarding rates of successful downloads, download charges paid by the download user, and other information. The digital copyright works may be music, movies, or graphics files that are typically downloaded onto a portable device, such as a cellular phone, portable music player, or personal digital assistant (PDA).

    • An advertisement system provides an advertisement impression in response to each advertisement request received from each of a plurality of diverse general media advertisement delivery systems. The advertisement system comprises a placement database and a distribution object. The placement stores a plurality of instances of advertisement content, each in association with a subject matter category, rendering factors, and a financial parameter. The distribution object receives each advertisement request. Each advertisement request includes channel identifier and at least one query parameter. The distribution object returns an advertisement impression that includes an instance of advertisement content that: i) is stored in association with a subject matter category meeting selection criteria determined from the query parameters; ii) is stored in association with rendering factors that correspond to the rendering type parameters; and iii) is stored in association with a financial parameter meeting financial parameter selection criteria. The rendering parameters are one of rendering parameters included in the impression request and/or rendering type parameters associated with the channel identifier. The financial parameter defines an amount payable by the advertiser upon the occurrence of an assessment event associated with rendering the instance of advertisement content.

    • A method for generating an advertisement impression which moves a selected instance of advertisement content in conjunction with a mouse pointer on a client rendering system includes defining, in a placement database, a plurality of instances of advertisement content. Each instance of advertisement content is associated with an advertisement category, a financial parameter, and response data. A selected instance of advertisement content is selected from the placement database. The selected instance of advertisement content is one of the plurality of instances of advertisement content that is associated with an advertisement category meeting selection criteria and a financial parameter meeting selection criteria. The selected instance of advertisement content is combined with pointer tracking instructions to generate the advertisement impression. The pointer tracking instructions are operative on the client rendering system to: i) move the selected instance of advertisement content in response to detecting user movement of the mouse pointer; ii) receive an indication of user response to the selected instance of advertisement content; and iii) in accordance with the response data associated with the selected instance of advertisement content perform one of: a) initiate a URL request to the redirect URL; and b) render the response content on the client rendering system.

The server computer maintains an advertiser account database and an advertiser keywords database which has a number of keyword entries and bids which are associated with advertising content pages of the advertising client computers. The server also includes a query processing subsection which is responsive to a search term entered on a query client computer provided to the server computer via one of the affiliate service provider computers. The query processing subsection returns search results to the query client which are ordered in accordance with the bid associated with the entries in the advertiser keyword database and have a link to the associated content pages.
