    • A method of xeroprinting in which a master sheet is secured to a drum to create a drum-sheet unit. The drum-sheet unit is installed in a master-creating apparatus where a xeroprinting master is created on the master sheet. The drum-sheet unit is then removed from the master-creating apparatus and installed in a xeroprinting apparatus. The xeroprinting apparatus forms a visible image on the xeroprinting master. The visible image is transferred and fixed to a receiver sheet. This method may be used to make color prints. Several color separation xeroprinting masters are created and the toned images created from them are superimposed in registered alignment with each other onto a receiver sheet to create a multicolor print.

    • A recirculating document feeder for use with an electrostatographic apparatus for producing precollated or post-collated simplex or duplex copies from simplex or duplex original documents with a transport arrangement which simplifies operational control over the feeder and reduces the potential of damage to the original document sheets. The document feeder comprises a hopper for holding a stack of original document sheets. A transport mechanism is provided for respectively transporting an original document sheet along a path in which such sheet is removed in one direction from the stack hopper and delivered in such direction to an exposure station; or a path in which such sheet is removed in a direction opposite to the one direction from the stack hopper, turned over, and delivered to the exposure station. The transport mechanism is selectively controlled to carry out delivery of document sheets depending upon whether the original documents in the stack hopper are simplex or duplex. Further, an original document sheet is selectively clamped to a transport mechanism at the exposure station for recirculation or passed directly back to the hopper to respectively carry out pre-collation or post-collation copying.

    • An electrographic apparatus has a photoconductor in the form of an endless web, and latent images are formed on one side of the web. The photoconductor is advanced along a path past three development stations at which latent electrostatic images on the web can be developed with colored developer material from the stations. The web is mounted for travel along a path spaced from the three development stations with the latent images of the photoconductor facing the development stations as the web passes the development stations. A plurality of back-up rollers positioned on the side of the web opposite from the development stations can engage the web to move the web out of its path of travel spaced from the development stations into a position relative to any single one of the development stations so that a latent image can be developed by such station. The three development stations are located with respect to each other and the web to enable two of the back-up rollers to be moved to bring the web into a position relative to only two of the development stations so that said two of the development stations simultaneously apply developer material to latent images on the photoconductor with the web continuing to be spaced from the other development station. High productivity is achieved, and operation of the development stations can be stopped fast and reliably.

    • An endless transfer web is supported by a large diameter drum and at least one small diameter roller. Two or more imaging drums are positioned in transfer relation to the transfer web where it is backed by the large drum. Different color toner images are transferred in registration to the web to form a multicolor image which is transferred to a receiving sheet. The receiving sheet is separated from the web as the web passes around the small roller. The imaging drums can be electrophotosensitive drums with separate electrophotographic stations or drums which hold masters, for example, xeroprinting masters on their periphery.
