摘要： One embodiment relates to a method of inspecting a site location on a target substrate. Contours are obtained, the contours having been generated from a reference image using a design clip. A target image of the site location is acquired. The contours are aligned to the target image, and contrast values are computed for pixels on the contours. A threshold is applied to the contrast values to determine contour-based defect blobs. Another embodiment relates to a method of generating contours for use in inspecting a site location for defects. Other embodiments, aspects and features are also disclosed.

摘要： A magnetic disk includes a substrate, a soft magnetic underlayer disposed over the substrate, and a media layer disposed over the underlayer. The underlayer includes a plurality of magnetic layers each containing FeCoN having an atomic concentration of iron that is greater than an atomic concentration of cobalt, and has an atomic concentration of nitrogen that is less than the atomic concentration of cobalt. The atomic concentration of nitrogen is less than eight percent. The underlayer includes a plurality of nonmagnetic layers that are interleaved with the magnetic layers. Each of the nonmagnetic layers has a thickness that is less than one-tenth that of an adjoining layer of the magnetic layers. The media layer contains a magnetically hard material having an easy axis of magnetization oriented substantially perpendicular to both the media layer and the underlayer.

摘要： The invention is directed to a method of characterizing a mechanism of action of an agent (e.g., a chemotherapeutic agent, a genotoxic agent). The method comprises contacting a plurality of populations of cells with an agent to be assessed, wherein each population of cells have one gene of interest targeted by a small hairpin RNA (shRNA) and wherein said gene of interest regulates cell death and a plurality of genes that regulate cell death are targeted in the plurality of populations of cells. A responsiveness of each population of cells to the agent is determined, thereby obtaining an shRNA signature of the agent, so as to identify one or more genes that mediate a response to the agent, thereby characterizing the mechanism of action of the agent. The invention is also directed an article of manufacture for characterizing a mechanism of action of a chemotherapeutic or genotoxic agent.

According to the present invention, in the case that the complexity of computation is not increased and only the memory space is doubled, the gain of the received signal in the system is improved effectively, especially when the synchronization of signals is bad, relatively large gain of the signals can be obtained, the system delay is reduced, and the real-time property of signal processing is improved. The method according to the present invention is suitable to the mobile communication system in a bad communication environment.

摘要： A read/write head and method of making the same are used in a data storage system, such as a disk drive, for perpendicular magnetic recording of data. The head employs a two-layer pole design with a main pole made of sputtered high moment magnetic material, and an adjunct pole made of electroplated soft magnetic film. The main pole is used to write data onto the medium, and is formed over the write coil. The adjunct pole is substantially recessed from the air bearing surface and is formed over the main pole. The present head design significantly enhances the magnetic write field, and substantially reduces side-writing that result in accidental erasure of data in adjacent tracks on the magnetic recording medium.
