    • A priming pump for fluid delivery arranged with a base defining a flow inlet, a flow outlet, and a control valve positioned therebetween. The priming pump includes a housing assembled to the base with an inlet flow valve positioned in an inlet valve compartment and an outlet flow valve positioned in an outlet valve compartment. The valve compartments are in communication with a plunger chamber including an axially movable plunger. A spring-biased control knob is assembled to the plunger and to the control valve for controlling its position between either a direct-flow orientation or a by-pass orientation. With the control valve in the by-pass orientation, upward movement of the control knob draws fluid into the inlet valve compartment and into the plunger chamber. The down stroke of the control knob pushes the fluid out of the plunger chamber.

    • A self-closing centerpost for a fluid filter includes a centerpost body which is constructed and arranged with a hollow interior so as to provide a fluid passageway. The fluid filter is designed for fuel and the hollow centerpost body includes an outer wall which defines a pair of flow apertures. These flow apertures are in flow communication with the fluid passageway in order to deliver fluid to the outlet port of the fluid filter. A control valve is positioned within the hollow interior and is designed with a pair of oppositely-disposed blocking portions which are disposed over the flow apertures when the flow control valve is in its normally closed (spring-biased) condition. In this closed condition, fuel is unable to enter the hollow centerpost body and is thus unable to be delivered to the engine. A biasing spring maintains the flow control valve in this closed condition until such time as a filtering element is installed at which point the endplate of the filtering element is used as the means to push down on a plunger portion of the flow control valve. Once the spring biasing force is exceeded by downward movement of the control valve, the blocking portions move away from the flow apertures so as to move the flow control valve into an open condition and permit fuel to flow through the flow apertures.

    • An adjustable insertion length entry sealing anchor as used with cannulas. All non-orifice catheters require an entry which is an injury to the recipient. That injury site has the same potential for infection, drainage and other complications as a non beneficial injury. A catheter entry site must accommodate relatively unrestricted movement of the catheter to allow its accurate placement and reduce the probability of further trauma to surrounding tissue during manipulation. The cooperation of the surrounding tissue's natural elasticity and a tapered, stepped or contoured sealing means inserted into the entry site provide a seal that will tend to lessen the opportunity for contamination of or drainage from the entry site. The elasticity of the surrounding tissue also promotes a healing time that is comparable to an insertion without a sealing means and is especially better than a site that is compromised by an infectious or noxious agent. The control of drainage also increases recipient comfort and decreases the presence of growth media for pathogenic agents. This is most beneficial to catheter applications which require the catheter to remain in the recipient for an extended time. It is also often further desirable to customize the catheter's exterior length for the comfort of the recipient, ease of use and to reduce snagging. The present invention provides for entry site sealing by a tapered, stepped or contoured slideably engaged generally winged anchor that further accommodates customization of the catheters length or other manipulations without compromising the proper positioning of the distal tip.
