    • The invention relates to compounds of the general formula (1)(R.sup.1 R.sup.2 X.sup.1 Si((R.sup.3).sub.a Cp))((R.sup.4).sub.a Cp)M(X.sup.2).sub.n (1)in whichR.sup.1 and R.sup.2 =independently of one another an alkyl or aryl radical,X.sup.1 =F, Cl, Br, I, p-tolylSO.sub.3 --, F.sub.3 CSO.sub.3 --, F.sub.3 CCO.sub.2 -- or H.sub.3 CCO.sub.2 --,R.sup.3 and R.sup.4 =identical or different alkyl, alkyl ether, aryl or aryl ether groups where 0.ltoreq.a.ltoreq.4,Cp=a cyclopentadienyl, indenyl, tetrahydroindenyl or fluorenyl radical,M=a transistion metal from groups 3-6 (IUPAC notation), in particular Ti, Zr or Hf,X.sup.2 =F, Cl, Br or I,the oxidation number of the transition metal minus 2.Also disclosed is a process of making compounds of formula (1) by reacting the metallocene counterpart thereof with acid HX.sup.1.
