摘要： Thermally stable polymers comprising resorcinol arylate chain members are prepared using an interfacial method comprising the steps of: (a) combining at least one resorcinol moiety and at least one catalyst in a mixture of water and at least one organic solvent substantially immiscible with water; and (b) adding to the mixture from (a) at least one dicarboxylic acid dichloride while maintaining the pH between 3 and 8.5 through the presence of an acid acceptor, wherein the total molar amount of acid chloride groups is stoichiometrically deficient relative to the total molar amount of phenolic groups.

摘要： The present invention relates to methods for the detection of myelin and a quantitative measurement of its local concentration in a sample using a benzofuran compound or its radioisotope derivatives. In one embodiment a method of myelin detection comprises identifying a subject at risk of or diagnosed with a myelin-associated neuropathy, parenterally administering to the subject the benzofuran compound, or a derivative of the compound, and determining myelination in the subject by detecting binding in the sample. In one embodiment, the invention provides a method of imaging myelinated tissue in a surgical field of mammalian tissue comprising the steps of contacting the surgical site with the benzofuran compound or a radioisotope derivative of the compound, and detecting binding in the surgical site. In yet another embodiment, a method of imaging spinal cord and spinal nerve root tissue is provided comprising the steps of parenteral administration of a radioisotope derivative of the benzofuran compound and detecting the radioisotope derivative within the spinal canal and intervertebral foramen. Methods of quantification of binding of the benzofuran compound or its derivatives are also provided.

摘要： In one embodiment the present invention is a polycarbonate comprising structural units derived from at least one dihydric phenol, a carbonate precursor, and at least one member selected from the group consisting of an oxanilide-comprising compound, an oxamate-comprising compound, and mixtures thereof. In another embodiment the present invention is a method for making a polycarbonate comprising structural units derived from at least one dihydric phenol and at least one member selected from the group consisting of an oxanilide-comprising compound, an oxamate-comprising compound, and mixtures thereof, which comprises the step of contacting under reactive conditions at least one dihydric phenol, a carbonate precursor, and at least one member selected from the group consisting of an oxanilide-comprising compound, an oxamate-comprising compound, and mixtures thereof. In still another embodiment the present invention is an article comprising a polycarbonate comprising oxanilide structural units. In still another embodiment the present invention is a method for making a symmetrical or unsymmetrical oxanilide-comprising dihydric phenol which comprises the step of contacting at least one aromatic amine bearing a hydroxy group with a diaryl oxalate or a dialkyl oxalate bearing alkyl groups each substituted with at least one electron-withdrawing group. In still another embodiment the present invention is a method for making an oxamate-comprising monohydric phenol which comprises the step of contacting an aromatic amine bearing a hydroxy group with a diaryl oxalate or a dialkyl oxalate bearing alkyl groups each substituted with at least one electron-withdrawing group.
