    • An electronic display includes a controller transmitting display data to a plurality of modules electrically connected to each other in series. A first module receives and transmits the display data to at least one intermediate module, which passes the display data along the series in a first direction. Each of the modules controls activation of a respective plurality of lighting elements based on the received display data. A last module transmits to the controller an acknowledgement of receipt of the display data. If the controller does not receive the acknowledgement, then the controller transmits the display data directly to the last module. The last module then transmits the display data to the at least one intermediate module, which passes the display data along the series connection in a second direction opposite to the first direction.

    • In accordance with one embodiment of the present invention, a specimen surface treatment system is provided comprising a vacuum chamber, a plasma chamber, a specimen holder port, and a specimen shield. The plasma chamber comprises an RF antenna positioned within the vacuum chamber so as to give rise to a capacitively coupled glow discharge plasma in a process gas contained within the vacuum chamber. The specimen shield is positioned within the vacuum chamber so as to define a preferred grounding path between the RF antenna and the specimen shield for ions generated in the plasma. The grounding path is preferred relative to a grounding path defined between the RF antenna and the specimen position. Additional embodiments are disclosed.

    • A bridge associated with a broadcast aperture facilitates the transfer of rendering commands and data between a processor and multiple graphics devices. The bridge receives data written by the processor to the broadcast aperture and forwards it to multiple graphics devices, eliminating the need for the processor to perform duplicative(?) write operations. During system initialization, a broadcast aperture is allocated to the bridge in address space based on an aperture size value set using a system configuration utility and stored in system configuration memory. A graphics driver activates the broadcast aperture by sending unicast aperture parameters associated with the multiple graphics devices to the bridge via a bridge driver. Upon activating the broadcast aperture, multiple graphics devices can be operated in parallel to improve rendering performance. Parallel rendering techniques include split-frame, alternate frame, and combined split- and alternate frame rendering.
