    • A positive resist composition comprising 1,2-quinonediazide compound and, as an alkali-soluble resin, an alkali-soluble resin (A) which comprises a resin (I) obtainable through a condensation reaction of a mixture of m-cresol, 2,3,5-trimethylphenol and optionally p-cresol with an aldehyde and a low molecular weight novolak (II) having a weight average molecular weight of 200 to 2000 as converted to polystyrene, an alkali-soluble resin (B) which comprises a resin (I) and a compound of the general formula (III): ##STR1## wherein R.sub.1, R.sub.2 and R.sub.3 are respectively a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkyl group or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.5 alkoxy group, 1, m and n are respectively a number of 0 to 3, R' is a hydrogen atom or a C.sub.1 -C.sub.3 alkyl group, or an alkali-soluble resin (C) which comprises a resin (IV) obtainable through a condensation reaction of a mixture of m-methoxyphenol and 2,3,5-trimethylphenol in a molar ratio of 80:20 to 30:70 with an aldehyde, which has good sensitivity, improved resolution and heat resistance.

    • A positive resist composition comprising an alkali-soluble resin containing a novolak resin which is obtained by a condensation reaction of a phenol compound and a carbonyl compound and has an area in a GPC pattern of a range in that a molecular weight as converted to polystyrene is not larger than 900 not exceeding 20% of a whole pattern area excluding the unreacted phenol compound, a quinonediazide compound and a polyphenol compound of the formula: ##STR1## in which R.sub.1 and R.sub.2 are independently a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, an alkyl group, an alkoxy group or a group: --OCOR.sub.3 in which R.sub.3 is an alkyl group or a phenyl group, x and y are independently an integer of 1 to 3, and m is an integer of 0 to 4, wherein a weight ratio of said polyphenol compound (I) to said alkali-soluble resin is from 3:10 to 5:10, which is excellent in heat resistance, sensitivity, resolution and a depth of focus and leaves no scum after development.

    • A card connector includes a housing having terminal members into which a card is inserted. The card connector also includes a card insertion space, defined by a top plate, a bottom plate and two side plates, the opposing plates mutually facing each other. The side plates linking the edges of the top and bottom plates. The card insertion space also has a front and a rear edge opening in which the front and rear edges of the card are exposed. The card connector also includes connection terminals, integrated with and mounted in the housing and in contact with the terminal members. One of the side plates has a card retaining member, engaged with a first concave member formed on the side edge of the card, and a position-determining member, engaged with a second concave member formed on the side edge of the card to determine the position of the card.

    • A card connector is configured for receiving a generally rectangular card therein. The card has contact pads and generally parallel first and second sides with a cut-away portion formed in the first side in proximity to a front end of the card. The cut-away portion includes a short length extending from the front end generally parallel to the first side, and a tapered shoulder part extending from the short length to the first side. The connector includes an insulative housing with first and second spaced apart sidewalls that define a cavity therein for receiving the card in an insertion direction. A tapered surface is provided adjacent the first sidewall to guide an improperly inserted card at an angle to the insertion direction and a second sidewall recess is formed in the second sidewall to permit entrance of a corner part of such improperly inserted card. A plurality of electrically conductive terminals are mounted in the housing and configured to engage the contact pads of the card upon proper insertion of the card into the housing. A metal shell is also mounted on the housing.
