    • An electronically commutated motor has a permanent-magnet rotor (124) having: at least two rotor poles (183, 186, 188, 189); at least one phase (126): a power stage (122) for influencing a motor current (320) flowing through the at least one phase (126); and a rotor position sensor (140) for generating a rotor position signal (182). Associated therewith is a control circuit (130) configured to perform the following steps: A) after a change of the rotor position signal (182), which change is associated with a change (t_HALL) between two rotor poles and follows a commutation of the motor current (320) through the at least one phase (126) which change is referred to hereinafter as a first pole change, a first value (I_MEAS(HCnt−1)) of the current through the at least one phase (126) is ascertained; B) after (lapse of a predetermined time span (T_Default+T_Offset(HCnt−1)) subsequent to the first pole change, performing a new commutation; C) after a change of the rotor position signal (182), which change follows the new commutation and is associated with a change between two rotor poles, which change is referred to as a second pole change, ascertaining a second value for the motor current (I_MEAS(HCnt)); D) as a function of the difference between the first value (I_MEAS(HCnt−1)) and second value (I_MEAS(HCnt)), modifying a value of the predetermined time span in order to bring about, when this modified value (T_Default+T_Offset(HCnt−1)) is used, an improved equalization of the first value and second value.

    • The invention relates to a sensorless electric motor and a method of controlling such an electric motor, which motor comprises a permanently magnetic rotor, a stator having at least one winding, and a power stage for influencing the current flowing through the winding. As a function of a predetermined commutation duration (T_K), a commutation period is defined, during which period the direction of the magnetic field generated by current flow through the winding is not modified, during which period a commutation completion operation (107) and a commutation initiation operation (109) take place, and which period starts at a first commutation instant (t_KN) and ends at a second commutation instant (t_KN+1); preferably, commutation timing is adjusted, based upon a value of induced voltage picked up at a currently non-energized one of the winding strands, during a plateau portion (108) of a winding voltage trace, located temporally between commutation instants.

    • An electronically commutated motor (20) has a rotor (28) and a rotor position sensor (30), which sensor, during operation, furnishes a rotational position signal (34). A stator interacts with the rotor (28). The stator has a stator winding strand (26) in an H bridge (22), and a control apparatus (36) which, during operation, performs the steps of: (A) controlling the H bridge (22) so that current pulses (+i1, −i1) flow through the stator winding strand (26), in alternate directions, each pulse starting at a first point in time (t1); (B) at the beginning of each commutation, starting from a second point in time (t2), operating in short circuit the winding strand (26), in order to cause a decreasing loop current (I*) through the stator winding strand (26), which loop current (I*) reaches zero at a third point in time (t3); and (C) stepwise modifying, toward a minimum, the time interval (TCC) between the first and third points in time (t1, t3).
