    • Polymeric stabilizer compounds are formed by an organic polymeric matrix, of paraffinic character, deriving from a hydrogenated polydiene and bearing bonded at at least one chain end a sterically hindered aminic function.Such polymeric stabilizer compounds are obtained by means of a process, which provides:(a) the polymerization of a diene, by the technique of the living polymers, under the influence of alkyl metal-alkyl or alkyl metal-aryl catalysts, to yield a polydiene bearing on its chain end a terminal metal atom;(b) the reaction of said metal-bearing polydiene with a sterically hindered aminic compound, bearing in its molecule an electrophilic group, in particular a carbonyl group, reactive towards said metal of the metal-bearing polydiene;(c) the catalytic hydrogenation of the polydiene bearing said sterically hindered aminic function at its chain end.The so-obtained compounds are particularly useful in the stabilization of polypropylene towards the U.V. light degrading action.

    • Semi-aromatic copolyamides and copolyester-amides are obtained by placing an aliphatic polyamide into contact with an aromatic hydroxyacid or aminoacid, by operating at high temperature, under melting conditions, possibly in the presence of a catalyst, with a ratio of the monomer units of aliphatic polyamide to the mols of aromatic hydroxyacid or aminoacid comprised within the range of from 20:1 to 1:1.The semiaromatic copolyamides and copolyester-amides so obtained can display a thermotropic liquid-crystal behavior as a function of their content of aromatic units linked inside the molecular chain. Their elastic modulus results to be improved relatively to the alifatic polyamides used as the starting product, and the elongation at break results to be decreased.Such semiaromatic polyamides and copolyester-amides can find application in the production of high-stiffness articles, by means of moulding or extrusion processes. They can also be used as blends with the usual thermoplastic polymers, in which they act as reinforcer or compatibilizer agents.

    • The instant invention provides a solid, polymeric electrolyte in membrane form, constituted by a solid solution of an ionic compound in a crosslinked polyether, characterized in that said polymeric electrolyte is obtained by (1) blending a prepolymer, an ionic compound, a plasticizer, and a free-radical-generating activator; and (2) applying the resulting blend on an inert carrier and exposing said blend to a source of ultraviolet light, thermal radiation or electron beam, until the blend is completely crosslinked. The instant invention also provides an electrolyte separator for use in electrochemical devices, optical and electrochemical displays and sensors, which comprises the polymeric electrolyte of the instant invention.
