摘要： The present invention discloses a method for reducing battery power consumed by an integrated services hub supporting a plurality of telephone lines. The status of power to the integrated services hub is monitored, and upon detecting a failure of primary power, each of the telephone lines is polled to detect an off-hook condition. The status of power to the integrated services hub is monitored while polling, and the polling is stopped upon detecting a return of primary power to the integrated services hub or upon detecting an off-hook condition in one of the telephone lines. Polling is performed by placing one of the telephone lines in a standby state and the remaining telephone lines in a disabled state and monitoring the telephone line in standby state for a predetermined amount of time to detect an off-hook condition. After the predetermined amount of time has lapsed, the monitored telephone line is changed from standby state to disabled state, and the next of the plurality of telephone lines is placed in a standby state, while any remaining telephone lines remain a disabled state. This polling sequence is repeated during active polling.

摘要： A private exchange includes a changeover control in order to control existing POTS customer premises equipment access redefinition in a changeover to an ISDN basic rate interface. The exchange includes a first port for connection to a local exchange, a second port for connection to a conventional analog subscriber station, and a controller which is connected with the first and second ports. The controller includes a digital network communication circuit and a cutover device for bypassing the digital network communication circuit in order to directly connect the first and second ports. The controller further includes a detector for activating the cutover device to bypass the digital network communication circuit in response to the first port being connected to a plain old telephone service and for deactivating the cutover device to connect the first port to the second port through the digital network communication circuit when the detector determines that the first port is connected to a digital exchange.

摘要： An integrated services digital network (ISDN) private exchange device is provided, which includes connectors for connection to an ISDN local exchange, a plurality of ports for connection to respective analog telephone devices, a plurality of ports for connection to respective digital devices, and an ISDN digital port for connection to at least one additional ISDN terminal device. The private exchange device may include a pair of ports for connection to two different analog telephone devices, each having simultaneous access capability with the ISDN network. Further, the private exchange device may include four ports for connection up to four digital devices, which are each capable of simultaneously accessing the ISDN local exchange. The ISDN digital port can be connected with up to eight ISDN terminals or terminal adapters. The private exchange device may further include a detector for detecting whether the port connected to the local exchange is connected to an ISDN network or to a conventional network and for bypassing an ISDN control circuit if the system detects that it is connected to a conventional analog network.
