    • This invention relates to a stator winding cooler for a generator having a stator, a fluid-filled rotor mounted for rotation relative thereto and a fluid supply delivering fluid to within the rotor. The stator winding cooler comprises a fluid sprayer disposed within the rotor for accepting fluid within the rotor and delivering the fluid to windings on the stator to cool the windings, the fluid sprayer having a variable orifice therein to render rates of fluid flow through the fluid sprayer insensitive to variations in rotor speed. The stator winding cooler is so designed to function in conjunction with the generator which operates at variable speed. The rate of fluid flow through the fluid sprayer is desired to be held constant to avoid over-spraying end windings at high generator speeds. In the preferred embodiment of the invention, oil, which is used as the cooling fluid, is also passed through a fixed metering orifice within the fluid sprayer which provides a maximum flow rate therethrough. The fluid sprayer is used to cool end windings on the stator of the generator, which in the preferred embodiment is a polyphase AC generator.

    • The present invention provides a WARren Portal IDentification and tunnel resident disgorger System (WARPIDS) comprising a jet engine, a marker medium and a base. In a preferred embodiment, the jet engine is configured to create an engine exhaust that is aimable into a first portal of a warren, perhaps having a plurality of interconnecting tunnels. The engine exhaust thereby creates an overpressure within the warren such that the engine exhaust escapes from a second tunnel portal. The marker medium is coupleable to, and configured to flow with, the engine exhaust from the first tunnel portal and through the second tunnel portal thereby marking the second tunnel portal. The base, coupled to and supporting the jet engine, is configured to be transported and located proximate the first tunnel portal by a conventional aircraft.

    • The problem of providing a high speed torque measuring apparatus (10) is solved by first and second coaxial members (18, 20) having an elastic coupling (25) which interconnects the coaxial members for allowing relative angular displacement in proportion to the magnitude of a torque load applied to one of the members. First and second concentric apertures (32 and 34a, 34b) are provided in the first and second coaxial members, respectively, for movement into overlapping relationship in response to the relative angular displacement of the coaxial members. A light source (40) is provided on one side of the coaxial members for transmitting light through the aperture in both members when in their overlapping relationship whereby the transmitted light intensity is in proportion to the amount of overlap between the apertures. A light intensity detecting device (42) is provided for receiving the light transmitted through the overlapped apertures.
