摘要： Disclosed is a flying head of a magneto-optical recording apparatus, in which a thin film magnetic head is provided separately from an air slider and stuck to a side wall of a light path aperture portion, the portion of the wall surface to which the thin film magnetic head is attached is made inclined so that the flying head has a superior flying characteristic, the modulation of a magnetic field can be performed at a high speed, and the peak position of distribution of intensity of a laser beam is made to align with the peak position of distribution of intensity of a magnetic field.

摘要： A flying head assembly for a magneto-optical recording drive includes a first head portion of a nonmagnetic material, and a second head portion mounted in an aperture through the first head portion. The second head portion and aperture define an annular path through the first head portion. A coil for generating a magnetic field is wrapped concentrically around the aperture, either inside or outside of the second head portion. A laser light beam is reflected into the annular path and focused onto a recording medium.

摘要： A floating head for use with a recording apparatus of magneto-optical memory type comprising a floating body which is provided in the vicinity of a rotating optical recording medium and which is made afloat by an air stream created by the rotation of the recording medium, an objective lens which is fitted in an optical path forming aperture in the floating body and which permits converging light from a light source to be focused on a focusing plane of the recording medium, and a coil which is installed in the vicinity of the optical path forming aperture in the floating body and which forms a magnetic field toward the focusing plane of the recording medium. The floating body is made of a soft magnetic material and is provided with a rim made of a soft magnetic material which is formed along the peripheral edge of the optical path forming aperture on the side closer to the optical recording medium and which projects toward the same. The rim is tapered in such a way that its wall thickness decreases gradually toward the center of the optical path forming aperture.
