    • The invention relates to apparatus for the lateral registration and registration in the feed direction of sheets which are fed in a sheet stream across a feed table to a sheet treating machine, e.g. a printing press. They stretch out the sheet transversely to the feed direction. The apparatus includes two suction plates arranged at a distance one from another at right angles to the feed direction, which are each respectively drivable in rotation about an axis. By use of suction openings which can be subjected to suction, the respective frontmost sheet of the sheet stream can be grasped in the region of its front edge and moved to bring its side edge to lie against a side stop and to bring its front edge to lie against a front stop. In accordance with the invention, one suction plate is drivable rotatably in a first rotational sense and the second suction plate in the opposite rotational sense. The suction openings of one suction plate can be subjected to greater suction than the suction openings of the other plate, so that the correct desired stretching of the sheet and registration against front stops an a side stop is achieved.

    • A sheet positioning mechanism for the feed table of a sheet-fed printing press which includes a set of releasable front stops and a side guide, with a wiper adjacent the side guide, the wiper having a limited zone of action. The sheets are fed in a straight stream, in shingled relation, along the feed table, the stream being laterally spaced from the side guide and out of the zone of action. A pair of swingable suckers are provided near the front end of the table and laterally spaced below the sheet path, the suckers being swung forwardly in unison about an arcuate path synchronized with the arrival of the sheet to be positioned so that such sheet is transported both forwardly in the direction of the front stops and laterally from its position in the stream into the zone of action of the wiper so that the wiper acts exclusively on the sheet to be positioned without interference by the overlapped closely following sheet. The wiper acts sufficiently early and is preferably sufficiently rapid so that the sheet is moved against the side guide just prior to engagement of the sheet with the front stops.

    • A sheet-feeding device for the cyclic feeding of separated sheets from a sheet stack of a sheet feeder to a sheet processing machine or an onward conveying device is provided. The sheet-feeding device includes one or more first conveying rollers of relatively small diameter which are rotatably arranged close to the leading edge of the sheet stack of the sheet feeder and around which one or more endless drive tapes are guided, the latter starting from the first conveying roller, extending approximately in the conveying direction and wrapping around a second conveying roll that is arranged at a distance from the first conveying roller. The device also includes an upper conveying roller mounted above the first conveying roller for rotation about an axis parallel to the axis of the first conveying roller.
