    • A photographic copying machine wherein the copying station is located between two feeding stations for a web of photographic material. The web is guided by fixedly mounted and pivotable guide members which define at each feeding station an opening through which loop-shaped intermediate portions of the web can enter a basket-shaped magazine. Two intermittently driven wheels at the first feeding station draw the web from a supply cassette and feed it directly into the adjacent magazine from which the web is withdrawn by intermittently driven wheels at the second feeding station whereby the web enters the other magazine from which it is withdrawn in response to rotation of the takeup reel in a second cassette. Pivotable flaps can seal the magazines from the path for the web during threading of the leader of a fresh web into the copying machine, and forked intercepting devices are provided adjacent to the magazines to intercept folded-over portions of the web.

    • An arrangement for controlling the exposure times of duplicators. In addition to the light source used for carrying out the exposure, a constant light source is used for applying the light to the photoelectric device in the duplicator, when the duplicator is not in use, for the purpose of maintaining the photoelectric fatigue effect constant. The constant light source is also used for calibrating the controlling circuitry for the exposure time. A timer connected to the switching circuitry which establishes the exposure interval gives an indication of the measured time interval. Adjustable resistors permit settings and compensations for the varying characteristics of the duplicating paper, as well as the characteristics of the individual duplicating machines.

    • A web of photographic paper is provided with indicia in the form of parallel grooves which are impressed into the rear side of the web by a reciprocable or pivotable ram- or wheel-shaped tool having one or more projections in the form of teeth, ribs or rings. The grooves are deep enough to be detectable by a needle, elastically mounted blade or other mechanical scanning means which cooperates with a transducer serving to produce signals for actuation of a device which severs the web between neighboring prints or for actuation of an evaluating circuit which receives a signal upon detection of the last print forming part of a customer order. The grooves extend at right angles to the longitudinal direction of the web. The projections of the tool can be heated to insure the formation of lasting grooves even if the web is caused to pass through one or more liquid baths before it reaches the scanning station.
