In the system and method, a received signal is despread and the noise power of the despread received signal is estimated. An orthogonal code generator generates a noise power measurement orthogonal code, which is orthogonal to all the orthogonal codes presently being used by the mobile station. A correlator connected to the orthogonal code generator performs a correlation operation between the noise power measurement orthogonal code and the despread received signal. A noise power measurer connected to the correlator, measures the noise power from the output of the correlator.

摘要： Disclosed is a method for determining a forward data rate and a forward transmission power level in a mobile communication system. An access terminal measures a C/I of a forward pilot channel, determines a forward data rate by matching the measured C/I with a reference C/I, creates a difference between the measured C/I and the reference C/I as margin information, and transmits the determined forward data rate and margin information over a reverse transmission channel. Upon receipt of the forward data rate and margin information, an access network decreases a transmission power level by power corresponding to the margin information and performs forward transmission at the forward data rate at the decreased transmission power level.

摘要： Uplink power control in a broadband wireless access system is provided. A Base Station (BS) includes a controller, a first generator, a second generator, and a modulator/demodulator (modem). The controller determines to apply one of a first power control which is slot-periodic and a second power control which is frame-periodic. The first generator generates a first power control command at a slot period using a channel quality premising a rake receiver according to the first power control. The second generator generates a second power control command at a frame period using a channel quality premising an equalizer according to the second power control, and generates a third power control command according to a predefined pattern at a slot not being able to use the channel quality. The modem transmits at least one of the first, second, and third power control commands.
