    • A retracting mechanism for storing or erecting a mirror includes, at a coupled portion of an output shaft of a drive motor and a worm gear, coupling retaining portions fitted together in a press-fitted state and rotational force transmitting portions opposing each other in a state where a predetermined gap is present between them. The coupling retaining portions are configured by a circular shaft portion and a circular fitting hole, and the rotational force transmitting portions are configured by a double D-cut portion and double D-protruding portions. The rotational force of the output shaft is transmitted by the rotational force transmitting portions, and the coupled state of the output shaft and the worm gear is retained on the same axial line and the slanting of the worm gear is prevented by the coupling retaining portions.

In a door mirror device for a vehicle, a load is applied to a rod drive in an axial direction, a claw member elastically deforms, and an engagement valley of the rod drive rides up over an engagement projection provided at a distal end of the claw member and is moved. Here, given that angles of inclination of two surfaces of the engagement valley, at a mirror side and at a side opposite the mirror, with respect to a direction orthogonal to an axis of the rod drive, are respectively &thgr;1 and &thgr;2, &thgr;1>&thgr;2. In this way, two loads for manually moving the rod drive toward a side opposite the mirror and toward the mirror side can be made to approach substantially a same magnitude.

    • In a door mirror assembly for a vehicle, a case is supported at a door mirror stay provided at a vehicle door and mounted to a door mirror visor, whereby the door mirror visor is disposed above the door mirror stay. An overlap portion provided at the case and an overlap portion provided at an opening of the door mirror visor are overlapped one above the other and mounted, and a gap between the opening of the door mirror visor and the lower part of the case is thus stopped. Therefore, generation of wind noises caused by wind entering through the gap between the opening of the door mirror visor and the lower part of the case while a vehicle is in motion can be prevented.

    • An electric remote-controlled rearview mirror assembly for a vehicle includes a mirror pivotally supported by a three point pivot connection of which the center pivot connection is stationary to permit angular movement of the mirror therearound. The remaining two pivot connections are spaced a predetermined angle from each other about the center pivot connection and are connected to rod members which are individually actuatable for longitudinal movement by at least one electric reversible motor to thereby positively angularly adjust the mirror around the center pivot connection. The drive of the motor is transmitted to the rod members through nut members. Either one of the rod members and the nut members is made of an elastic material whereas the other of the rod members and the nut members is made of a rigid material. The use of pairs of pinch roller instead of the nut members is also disclosed.
