    • A mounting mechanism of a wheel cap includes engaging claws arranged on a wheel cap body of the cap, a flexible ring arranged on the body while contacting with the inner side of each of the claws under pressure, a closing lid arranged on the body, and a projection arranged on the lid. The urging force of the ring applies on the radial inner surface of each claw. The lid is moved between a ring mounting position and a ring releasing position. The projection contacts with the free ends of the ring in the ring mounting position of the lid. Each claw engages with a hump portion of a disc wheel so that the cap is mounted on the disc wheel to be capable of being dismounted therefrom.

    • A wheel cover which can be mounted on wheels having the same standardized diameter irrespective of types of the wheels. The wheel cover has a plurality of clips, for sandwiching a rim flange of the wheel, fixed at positions proximate to a peripheral edge of a disc-shaped wheel cover body, with the clips spaced at predetermined intervals. The clips and the wheel cover body are connected with each other through a plane fastener. A plurality of first plane members constituting the plane fastener are installed at positions proximate to the peripheral edge of the underside of the disc-shaped wheel cover body, with the first plane members spaced at predetermined intervals in the circumferential direction of the disc-shaped wheel cover body. A second plane member engaging the first plane member elastically is installed on each clip. Each clip has a sandwiching portion for sandwiching the rim flange elastically or by the clamping force of a screw devices.

    • A wheel cap mounting apparatus for mounting a wheel cap on a disk wheel includes a retainer to be fixedly mounted on the disk wheel, and a bolt for holding the wheel cap to the retainer. The retainer includes a body portion having a throughhole and a nut embedded in the body portion by molding. The threaded hole in the nut aligns with the throughhole in the body portion. A small-diametered insert section is connected to the body portion and adapted to be inserted into an opening formed in the disk wheel. The small-diametered insert section has a hole formed therethrough, which is in alignment with the throughhole formed in the body portion. The retainer further has claws formed integrally with the small-diametered insert section such that the claws project radially outwardly from the small-diametered insert section. By the use of the retainer the wheel cap is rigidly mounted on the disk wheel such that the insert section of the retainer is inserted through the opening formed in the disk wheel with the claws being held in engagement with the peripheral edge of the opening, while the bolt screwed into the nut has its shank being located adjacent the claws to prevent the insert section from being pulled out from the opening.

    • A wheel cover mounting which comprises a wheel cover having its back face formed with a plurality of receptacles positioned adjacent the periphery thereof, and a resilient retaining member for each receptacle inserted at one end thereof into the respective receptacle in a direction axially of the wheel. The other end of the resilient retaining member protrudes outwards from the receptacle and is adapted to be press-fitted into a space which is defined between a lateral wall of a wheel disc lying generally axially of the wheel and a lateral wall of a wheel rim lying generally axially of the wheel for detachably fitting the wheel cover to the wheel. The resilient retaining member is constituted by a metallic leaf spring and the outwardly protruding end has a pair of upturned spring catches extending in the opposite directions away from each other so as to represent a generally W-shaped configuration. One of the spring catches is adapted to resiliently engage the lateral wall of the wheel disc whereas the other of the spring catches is adapted to be inserted into and resiliently engage a hump area formed in the lateral wall of the wheel rim.

    • A device for mounting a wheel cover on a disc wheel for use in an automobile. The device includes a plurality of engagement units. Each engagement unit includes a leg extending from the wheel cover, and a housing secured on the disc wheel. The leg has at its tip portion an engagement pin. The housing includes a wall having a C-shaped cutout forming a hook portion. There are provided in the housing a spring and slide plate supported by the spring. When the wheel cover is depressed toward the disc wheel and rotated in a predetermined direction, each leg is received in the housing and guided by the slide plate so that the pin is introduced into the hook portion through the cutout. The engagement of the pin with the hook portion is ensured by the urging of the spring member.
