    • Enhanced user selection interface structures comprise one or more buttons that are linked to selectable characteristics, and a display linked to the buttons, for display of an item that corresponds to the selected characteristics. The interface is typically linked to a database comprising stored images and other information that corresponds to the selectable characteristics, wherein an image that corresponds to an item that meets a selected characteristic is retrieved and displayed. Corresponding information other than the image may also be retrieved and displayed. In some embodiments, the stored images comprise a single image that matches all the selected characteristics. In alternate embodiments, the displayed image comprises a composite image that corresponds to different selected characteristics. In some embodiments, the user selection interface comprises any of a graphic user interface or a mechanical interface. Some preferred interface embodiments provide links for merchandising functions, such as for ordering, purchasing, inventories, and/or shipping.

    • A one-piece tool that is a jig for drilling pilot holes in deck boards by self-aligning along two axis on a planar surface in the form of a relative offset from the deck board and joist resulting in one point using the deck board and joist as a reference guide. The self-alignment feature replicates the position of the pilot holes for fasteners that are accurately on the centerline of joist and uniformly spaced and flush with deck board. Deck fasteners remain centered in the joist assuring optimal structural strength. The tool can be aligned to the right or left of the joist as needed with the same results. The tool may be used with various decking materials including but not exclusive to wood or composite decking The tool replicates the drilling pattern with accuracy and precision resulting in an extremely aesthetic appearance and optimal strength of the finished deck.

    • Level shifting circuitry is provided for generating an output signal in response to an input signal. The level shifting circuitry includes a pulldown path for pulling the output signal to a lower output voltage level in response to a first transition of the input signal and a pullup path for pulling the output signal to a higher output voltage level in response to a second transition of the input signal. Pullup control circuitry places the pullup path in a non-conductive state in response to the output signal being pulled to the higher output voltage level. A keeper path keeps the output signal at the higher output voltage level while the pullup path is non-conductive until the pulldown path pulls the output signal low. A maximum drive current of the pulldown path is greater than a maximum drive current of the keeper path.

    • An Internet wire-mesh merchandising system comprises a webserver for generating a web presence. Potential customers log-on to a website operated by a wire-mesh retailer, distributor, and manufacturer. An HTML product page includes navigation buttons that link to other HTML product pages. Each page includes pictures that allow the shopper to see a particular wire mesh product corresponding to a presently displayed HTML product page. Alternate-view buttons link to other pictures of the same product that show variations or different perspectives. Navigation buttons permit the shopper to hyperlink to product pages where the wire mesh is finer, coarser, thinner, and thicker. Once the link is taken, a graphic is presented that corresponds to the selected wire-mesh.

    • Methods and apparatus include a handheld printer manipulated back and forth by an operator during use to print an image. An inkjet printhead of the printer has a plurality of fluid firing actuators arranged in a substantial column. A controller communicates with the printhead to identify active actuators given to fire at a particular time during use to print the image. However, to prevent unsightly print quality from occurring during overlapping adjacent print swaths, for example, certain of the identified actuators are prevented from firing. Especially, actuators in the column further from a center of the column fire less frequently than those closer to the center. A position sensor is also used to locate the printhead relative to the image. The controller correlates the position to the printhead and actuators and fires the active actuators or not.
