摘要： An acetabular cup assembly having a non-metallic inner cup to be positioned within a metal shell with a dome shaped interior surface. The non-metallic inner cup is formed with a plurality of interconnecting grooves and ribs. The ribs are configured to contact the interior surface of the metal shell while the grooves have inner surface areas spaced from the interior surface of the metal shell. The combination of the ribs and the groove define cavitites in the outer surface of the inner cup. The assembly further includes groove insert members that are configured to be positioned in and filling substantially all of the cavities.

摘要： A tool intended to facilitate the trimming of the stem of a patellar prosthesis to adapt the length of the stem to fit differing cross-sectional thickness of a human patella is disclosed. The trimming tool includes a seat area for receiving the prosthesis and a cap member for securing the prothesis in the seat. The cap area includes an aperture therethrough which exposes a specific length of stem for trimming. A cutting guide on the cap member ensures that the stem is cut in a perpendicular orientation to the centerline axis of the prosthesis.

摘要： A cannulated tamp for preparing a cavity in a femur to receive a prosthesis has a thin sidewall with perforations and openings at the proximal and distal ends. During the process of tamping bone graft material, it is positioned over a guide wire which extends through the openings at the proximal and distal ends. After completion of the tamping, the guide wire is removed and a perforated tubing attached to a vacuum pump is inserted through the openings at the proximal and distal ends to withdraw liquids from the prepared cavity.

摘要： A glenoid component for a shoulder prosthesis includes a body having a concave lateral articulating surface and an opposing medial surface with a stem extending along a central axis from said medial surface. The medial surface includes a central portion extending outwardly from the central axis and tapering toward said lateral articulating surface from an area of greater thickness of said body in the vicinity of said central axis to an area of lesser thickness outwardly from said central axis. Under one embodiment the body portion has an edge having a generally circular configuration while under a second embodiment the body portion includes an edge having a non-circular configuration and the tapering central portion terminates in a circular line of termination which is spaced from said edge in one or more areas and cooperates with said edge to define one or more extension portions. A method for and apparatus for use in implanting the glenoid component includes a combination sizer and guide and a reamer having a tapered cutting edge extending from a head in which a peripheral edge portion is contoured to engage the glenoid surface to prevent reaming to an excessive depth.

摘要： A universal patellar clamp is disclosed. The clamp includes an articular surface clamping member having a central aperture defining a centerline axis. The central aperture is sized to accept all available known sizes of cannulated reamers. An anterior clamping member is positioned along the centerline axis and is movable with respect to the articular clamping member to effect clamping of the patella. A pair of guide arms are engaged with the articular clamping member to be positioned over the central aperture and provide a guide hole for supporting a threaded guidewire or pin along the centerline axis. The guide arms are removable from their position over the central aperture to clear the aperture for access by the cannulated reamer.
