摘要： Disclosed herein is a stress optical modulator. The modulator include a circular piezo-electric actuator; and a ring waveguide separated from the circular piezo-electric actuator by a top cladding layer. The circular piezo-electric actuator may be offset from the ring waveguide such that a first circular portion of the circular piezo-electric actuator is located on the outside of the ring waveguide and a second circular portion of the circular piezo-electric actuator is located on the inside of the ring waveguide. The circular piezo-electric actuator may be configured to change the guiding properties of the ring waveguide based on the voltage applied to the circular piezo-electric actuator by inducing strain through the top cladding layer to change the optical properties of the ring waveguide.

摘要： A method for generating a predictive image to enable remote control of an unmanned ground vehicle (UGV) under conditions of long communications latency. An original digital image of the UGV environment (from a UGV-mounted camera) is projected forward such that a lower portion falls on a ground plane defined to approximate the UGV's travel surface and an upper portion falls on a far plane defined approximately normal to the ground plane and forward of the UGV. A perspective transformation technique used to generate the predicted image separates the ground plane image from the far plane image. Two separate mathematical perspective transforms are defined and applied, one for the lower (ground plane) part of the image, and one for the upper (far plane) part of the image. The resulting predicted upper and lower image are rejoined to form the complete predicted image, which may then be presented on a video screen.

摘要： The present invention provides compositions comprising therapeutic nucleic acids (e.g., interfering RNA such as siRNA) that target Ebola virus (EBOV) gene expression and methods of using such compositions to silence EBOV gene expression. More particularly, the invention provides unmodified and chemically modified interfering RNA which silence EBOV gene expression and methods of use thereof, e.g., for preventing or treating EBOV infections caused by one or more EBOV species such as Zaire EBOV. The invention also provides serum-stable nucleic acid-lipid particles comprising one or more interfering RNA molecules, a cationic lipid, and a non-cationic lipid, which can further comprise a conjugated lipid that inhibits aggregation of particles. Methods of silencing EBOV gene expression by administering one or more interfering RNA molecules to a mammalian subject are also provided.

摘要： A method for improving the signal to noise ratio of an EEG signal in which a wavelet packet decomposition having a plurality of levels is first applied to a time slice of the EEG signal. A default signal is set to the first wavelet packet and a default peak response is then calculated for the first wavelet node. An update signal is set to the default signal combined with another of the wavelet nodes and an update peak response signal is then calculated of the update signal. If the update peak response signal exceeds the default peak response, the default peak response is set equal to the update peak response and the default signal is set equal to the update signal. Otherwise, the value of the current node is set to zero which effectively eliminates the signal data of the current wavelet node. These steps are reiterated for all of the wavelet nodes and, thereafter, a composite waveform of the EEG signal is reconstructed from the non-zero wavelet nodes.

摘要： A seat assembly reclines during an under-vehicle explosion or other upward impact on the vehicle to mitigate spinal and lower leg damage to a human occupant. The seat assembly has a back frame portion and a lower frame portion. The lower frame portion has a pivotal connection with an energy absorbing mechanism mounted to the vehicle floor. The pivotal connection includes a stop mechanism to prevent seat assembly tilt during normal vehicle operation but allow tilt due to an explosion. A second mechanism is disposed between the back frame portion and the floor; this mechanism controls the seat assembly pivot and provides further absorbing of energy from the upward impact. Projections from the front of the lower frame portion toward the floor can be used to enhance seat assembly pivoting; specially designed seat engagement levers can be used for this purpose as well.
