摘要： A work roll cross type rolling mill comprises a pair of work rolls and a pair of back-up rolls for backing up the work rolls. The back-up rolls are so arranged that their axes can be inclined within horizontal planes only to three or four specific angular positions. The work rolls are allowed to be inclined within horizontal planes with respect to the back-up rolls such that the axes of the work rolls cross the axes of the associated back-up rolls and cross each other. The nip between each the work roll and the associated back-up roll is lubricated so as to reduce axial thrust generated therebetween due to the crossing of the rolls. The cross angle between the work rolls is set and controlled during rolling operation only when the roll peripheral speed or the rolling speed is 50 m/min or higher. Advantages of work roll cross type rolling mill are fully extended to realize stable rolling without trouble so as to ensure high quality of the rolled product while achieving higher rate of operation of the mill with facilitated operation.

摘要： A work roll crossing type rolling mill has back-up rolls arranged in such a manner that their axes are not inclined in a horizontal plane. Work rolls are constructed in such a manner that their axes can be inclined in a horizontal plane relative to the backup rolls such that the axes of the work rolls cross the axes of the back-up rolls and such that the axes of the work rolls cross each other. A lubricant supply device is provided for supplying a lubricant between each work roll and each back-up roll combination to greatly reduce the thrust exerted to the work rolls, whereby the rolling mill is given an excellent ability of controlling the crown of the material to be rolled.

摘要： A 4-high-rolling mill includes a pair of upper and lower works, a pair of upper and lower backup rolls supporting the upper and lower work rolls, respectively, a roll bending device for applying a bending force to the upper and lower work rolls, and a roll shift device for shifting the upper and lower work rolls in an axial direction of the work rolls. Each of the upper and lower work rolls has a curved initial crown portion formed on one side portion of a barrel of the work roll which is not less than a half of the length of the work roll barrel, and a substantially cylindrical initial crown portion formed on the remainder of the work roll barrel. Teh curve of the curved initial crown portion approximates to a curve represented by the formula Y=X.sup.n, (n.gtoreq.1.5), and the curved initial crown portions of the upper and lower work rollers are disposed oppositely relative to each other in the axial direction of the work rolls, and always disposed in overlapping relation to each other at least a part thereof.

摘要： A working roll shift type rolling mill has a housing including upper and lower working rolls having working roll chocks, and upper and lower reinforcing rolls having reinforcing roll chocks. Hydraulic rams mounted between the upper and lower working roll chocks apply a vertical force to the vertically facing portions of the respective chocks. The working roll chocks are immovably mounted on their respective working rolls so that they can be moved together. Each of the hydraulic rams has one end mounted in one of the upper or lower working roll chocks and the other end engaging the horizontal wall surfaces of the upper and lower working roll chocks that are vertically adjacent to each other. The working roll chocks and reinforcing roll chocks have flat side surfaces. The housing of the rolling mill includes windows each having a flat side wall such that the working roll chocks and the reinforcing roll chocks may be lifted and lowered within the housing.
