摘要： A system and method for delivering a flow of breathing gas to an airway of a patient that includes a gas flow generator and a patient circuit that communicates the flow of gas to an airway of a patient. A sensor measures a characteristic associated with the flow of gas, such as flow rate. A controller determines a first characteristic based on the measured characteristic and a target of the flow of gas to be delivered to the patient. The controller controls the delivery of gas to the patient by 1) providing a baseline positive pressure support amount to the patient and 2) providing a modified pressure support amount by reducing the baseline amount by a given amount if the first characteristic is above the target. The baseline pressure includes a pressure provided during inspiration that is higher than a pressure provided during expiration.

摘要： A system and method for delivering a flow of breathing gas to an airway of a patient. The system monitors a characteristic that varies based on variations of the flow of the breathing gas and determines a Target Flow for the gas to be delivered to the patient based on the monitored characteristic. The Target Flow is set to a level sufficient to treat Cheyne-Stokes respiration or a sleep disordered breathing event. The system also alters the Target Flow based on a determination that the patient is experiencing a sleep disordered breathing event. The system further determines a pressure relief component and controls the flow of gas delivered to the patient based on the Target Flow and the pressure relief component.

摘要： A laser apparatus is disclosed. The apparatus includes a Neodymium-doped lasing material having first and second surfaces and a passive Q-switch optically coupled to the second surface. The first-surface is substantially transparent to a pump radiation and substantially reflective to laser radiation generated by an interaction between the pump radiation and the Neodymium-doped lasing material. The laser radiation is characterized by a vacuum wavelength corresponding to an atomic transition from the 4F3/2 level to the 4I9/2 level of Neodymium in the lasing material. The second surface transmits at least a portion of the laser radiation. The lasing material and Q-switch are configured to produce pulses of the laser radiation characterized by a pulse length of greater than zero and less than about 1.5 nanoseconds and a pulse repetition rate greater than about 100 kHz. A PQSL laser, an apparatus for generating blue light and a display system based on the laser apparatus are also disclosed.

摘要： A method and apparatus for discriminating digital data received from a plurality of spatially distinct acoustic sensing nodes of a distributed undersea optical surveillance system. The present invention advantageously employs Code Division Multiplexing (CDM), which is a synchronous variation of Code Division Multiple Access (CDMA), to communicate a plurality of digital data bit-streams from the nodes to a common location remote therefrom. The inventive system generates at the remote location a pseudo-random reference signal that functions as a carrier for communicating sensed acoustic data from the nodes to the remote location. Using the known spatial relationship between the nodes and the remote location and the pseudo-random reference signal, the present invention operatively synchronizes correlators at the remote location to receive and differentiate data from the various individual nodes.

摘要： A pressure support system configured to provide pressure support therapy includes a humidifier that holds an enhanced amount of liquid while enhancing the power consumption of the pressure support system and enabling relatively rapid adjustments to humidity level. The humidifier includes a humidification chamber and a holding chamber, and a partition that divides the holding chamber from the humidification chamber such that liquid from the holding chamber replenishes liquid held in the humidification chamber. The partition, however, also provides a level of thermal isolation for the humidification chamber from the holding chamber.
